  1. B87 what was the annual sunshine forgures for both those years, surely we’ll above 2000 hours?
  2. After all these above average rainfall months we’ve had in England and wales etc I was wondering if what the record is for how many consecutive above average sunshine months we’ve had? Thankyou As you were…
  3. Weather Enthusiast91 I’d like to live in a climate with proper seasons too. we are so overdue but I think asking for 9 months of above average sunshine from here on out might be too much to ask but I hope for all our sakes we do have a nice end to spring, a sunny warm summer and sunny warm first half of autumn to make up for the weather we’ve endured since last autumn
  4. Weather Enthusiast91 well yes, in winter, it’s time for sun and warmth now, wish it would hurry and get here
  5. Weather Enthusiast91 I must have missed when it’s felt warm? Winter has been and gone, I’d like some sunshine records broken and not ‘the dullest’
  6. It’s going to feel so strange when we get our first long period of sun and warmth isn’t it, that’s how overall dull it’s been for so long. Question is when
  7. In Absence of True Seasons I’d say a standard day in the south west is actually 19c-22c depending on where you are, usually in Exeter for example we are warmer than say Plymouth or coastal areas….I generally thought for the south east it would be 22c-25c
  8. raz.org.rain possible though we have warmer averages than you in every month, we are slightly sunnier too but given that you have more land mass around you then you are more at risk of extreme temperatures during heatwaves than we are due to being a peninsula. No offence but i think I’ll stay in Devon
  9. WYorksWeather I wish ha yes it really does, often in summer London and many places in the south east are often 5C warmer than us, unless the heat builds, heatwave or comes at us from the east we are usually cooler. Our warmest temperature recorded was just over 34c In 1976 but I’m dubious on that because I cannot believe we haven’t surpassed that since then in this warming world, I know we came close in 2022, but then Wikipedia aren’t very accurate as it still has our September record down as just over 27c but we reached 29c last September. I tried to find monthly temperature records for Exeter on met office website but couldn’t find it
  10. WYorksWeather it’s not too common to get temps of over 30c even here In Exeter, probably only happens half a dozen times a year, being on a peninsula must temper the temperatures a little unlike the south east where it’s multiple times a year. I’m quite happy with temps of 22c to 27c as long as there’s lots of sun and overnight rain
  11. WYorksWeather hopefully a good sign of things to come, tired of feeling chilly and wet
  12. markyo it’s spring? 20c is very common in April or am I missing something
  13. I’ve still had the heating on for an hour or so in the evenings sometimes, tonight I can get away with just a warm night gown today was on off sunny and on the rare occasion the wind wasn’t blowing a hooly it felt very pleasant. It can be mild all it likes but if it’s windy or wet that makes a world of difference
  14. SunSean glad to see you are doing a rolling total, will definitely be interesting at the end of the year. will you be putting it on one table or are you doing separate? where’s Exeter?
  15. *Stormforce~beka* sending you hugs, weather really affects the mood and let’s be honest with mess the country is in right now, coming through a wet dull autumn and winter we’ve been hoping to catch a break in spring and so far the weather pattern just isn’t letting it’s grip go. I have a feeling we might start to see more sunny settled weather the latter part of April and we have the hope of what summer could be, fingers crossed it’s a complete flip on what we have had
  16. In Absence of True Seasons that’s exactly the same sunny periods that I remember for here as well. I just looked at the latest gfs and well it’s a very safe bet to say that even if the last week of April is settled many of us will have another above average rainful month of April unless there’s a drastic switch in the models. But anyway it is currently sunny here albeit chilly so we have to take our small mercies when we can. It’s got to change at some point
  17. Earthshine what’s more shocking is when was the last time we had a week of cloudless skies? I can’t even remember. I know we have had the odd nice day peppered in amongst it all but the weather has truly been awful for so many months, we just can’t catch a break, I just looked at the latest gfs and wish I hadn’t. Can’t wait to see yellows and oranges over us under a strong high, we really have been a low magnet for soooo long, it’s crazy…have you seen all the sun and warmth in Easter Europe? They’ve definitely benefited from our misfortunes. Im not even dramatising but I could honestly cry how depressing the weather has been overall for so long, I’m a happy person but this weather is really testing my resilience
  18. reef we’ve had over 940mm of rain in Exeter since July. Our average yearly total is 829mm though we had been having many dryer years in the 700+ range so much so that I’d have expected at the next decades average we’d be in that rain ge rather then up in thr 800mm, it’s been a shock. Hopefully we have some moderately dry months from here on out and lots of sun!
  19. I think if we have a wet April and May I will go doolally seriously, please no, we have had more than our fair share of rain, I honestly can’t believe how many wet months we’ve had in succession without adding 2 more to it. The only thing that’s getting me through is the hope of a warm sunny second half of spring and a warm sunny sunny. I’m not sure I believe in cloud seeding but there’s a few countries that dislike the uk thanks to this toxic government that are capable…..would make sense
  20. Well we are at 100mm for rain for March and from the deluge we had this morning you can call it 120mm so we will end March of receiving double the amount of our average rainfall for Exeter, this has happened several times since autumn…if only we could get stick under perpetual high pressure so easily as we do low pressure and we wouldn’t moan so much… Can someone please give us a ‘ray’ of light that this awful pattern will abate in April please?
  21. I honestly didn’t think last spring could be beat in turns of how bad the weather was, we can only hope that the second half of april warms and dries up and that we don’t have to wait until mid May to see temps above 70f, surely not again?
  22. *Stormforce~beka* probably someone from netweather forum who was tired of seeing rain on the radar
  23. Eskimo we are over our average already of 62mm, we are at 79mm for March so far in Exeter and I would be shocked if we don’t exceed 100mm for the month after several 100mm+ months , it really has been an incredibly wet autumn and winter, spring has started out on the same footing. I’m desperately hoping we will have warm, dry and sunny weather the second half of spring and all of summer and a warm dry sunny autumn to make up for this wet and dull weather we’ve had for several months, it’s needed.
  24. raz.org.rain well at least we can’t take it personally then
  25. cheeky_monkey its true which is why I don’t believe Plymouth sunshine figures, either that or ours hasn’t been updated on the Exeter Wikipedia page in years as there’s no way Plymouth records more sun than Exeter annually. Mind you the record monthly temperatures on the Exeter Wikipedia page are out of date anyway so wouldn’t surprise me.
