  1. yeah, because of boxing day through to new years eve, otherwise not really, Jan marginally better due to 2 smatterings of snow
  2. very marginal, rain low levels?, to newbies, purples do not mean cold
  3. GFS still a pain with that low getting too far west on friday, UKMO way better with pattern further east, wonder if ECM will go with GFS (rain) or UKMO (snow)
  4. 0r I will be swimming to the town centre, due to all the rain I could get
  5. really like your enthusiasm! 'Frosty' hope so and hope GFS is wrong and UKMO right
  6. I would say its looking wet from friday, trend seems to be to move the low pressure further west, so no northerly at all, GFS first to pick up on this, UKMO looks okay, but soon to see it backtrack to move the low over us, rather than to the east, meaning rain rather than dry we need shifts east of the whole setup
  7. yeah, very wet for the South, could be a trend to bring low pressure closer to the UK/north sea, see what 00Z's bring, but maybe northerly cut off due to lows too close
  8. Xmas Day o4 I was lucky, not the greatest amount 3cms but a white Xmas
  9. 20th Dec 2009 was the worst, winds WNW, not a flake here, could see the anvils, 8 inches Stockport
  10. chance of it being NNW, but does have to be just right, winds often too westerly, so snow goes to Stockport, ESE through derbyshire
  11. yes, that's what we need an upgrade on, the uppers, then could be in the game
  12. they can deliver if cold enough, used to get loads of cheshire Gap snow, in good old days, ECM uppers are better for thursday, low levels would see snow off that if of course any ppn about
  13. Still cannot see much chance for snow away from high ground, Wed may produce a bit of back edge snow, but the showery flow looks dry as wind too W'ly, thurs the uppers get a bit warmer, then Friday much warmer uppers moving down still chance for upgrades, models need to upgrade uppers, cos Wed night only currently shows cold enough setup for snow
  14. Boxing day, yeah, I wrote off Jan for meaningful cold and snow for low levels south, all I've had in Jan is 2 smatterings of snow, no ice days, and the month has been mostly dominated by the Atlantic
  15. I do agree, although really there is nothing to get watered down, Wed looking the day with the coldest uppers off NW'ly, snow for usual high levels, then by friday uppers become less cold, so rain mostly for low levels then GFS toying around with a slider low for 1st Feb, again got to really expect rain for low levels in the south
  16. Uppers only look good on Wednesday, turning less cold with warmer uppers and rain on friday wednesday the day/night for possible snow
  17. Rubbish 18Z for the south, cool with rain sums it up, 140-168, uppers getting warmer from the north around 150
  18. They don't, they look pants for the south, thicknesses not great either, but still FI, so hope for upgrades, as there cannot really be downgrades for my location
  19. They don't look that good at all for the South, uppers are nothing special, thicknesses not great, upto 5C in south, but time for upgrades
  20. but I assume your elevation is way better
  21. take it she was fit! models do look good for your neck of the woods, Pants for mine
  22. actually that is very likely, I remember chasing a northerly for around 6th Dec 2013, think at one point all models showed it, it was pushed east, first I think by GFS (old GFS of course)
