  1. This regional thread must cover the most divergent weather type in the uk. Just took daughter to ballet lesson,9 degrees on car thermoneter with overcast sky and no wind. Feels almost balmy. Compare that to snow in oxford . amazing!
  2. I know what you mean. There is allways a tipping point for me when i go from wanting snow and ice to sun and warmth. Ithink for me now, that time is nearly here. One last chance perhaps over the next week,10 days and then that will be it. Anyway the nights are getting longer, time to get outside and do stuff, not sitting with the outside light on praying for a snowflake!
  3. Well,at least cornwall got a yellow warning for a bit.Big upgrade for here. Not a bad winter really to get a yellow warning.
  4. Could only happen in cornwall. If you look closely at the warning,it actually misses out the far west (lands end etc) Wouldn't want to be in penzance right now. You would think that just for once, the meto would show a bit of compassion and include us all. p.s raining here now
  5. Yes, but with a really boring zonal setup, there's allways the chance of things changing for the better. At the moment, what have i got to look foreward to? oh yes i know a boring zonal set up! I suppose i'am just a "glass-half-empty " sort of guy
  6. Dont you find it strange we are getting so much activity today with a straight northly? Normally it would be quieter here with the showers running down though the west and the islands.
  7. Well, for about 2-3 mins at the end of a hail shower. But yes, you are right to see one single snowflake most winters here is lucky. It just makes this set up at the moment so frustrating as we dont get many chances.
  8. Getting frustrated now. 1) gale force northly wind straight from the artic. 2) 6 feb 3) continous stream of heavy shower activity. All sounds perfect, trouble is it's RAINING.
  9. What i dont understand is why certain people even look at the GFS runs if they are so poor. My advice is DONT. and then you wont get all worked up.It's not healthy you know.
  10. Try living here then. These slider lows are a total waste of time down here. Just rain rain rain rain!
  11. I wonder if us might include cornwall aswell. LOL only joking. Wife +eldest son coming back from blackpool sunday night, might be intresting
  12. Wind really starting to gear up now,the sea is turning white. No fishing today i fear.
  13. Just had a heavy hail shower followed by about 3 mins of snow. A lot of big black clouds around
  14. That is the exact same question thats been bugging me. If you look at the SLP chart, it screams potential to me. This is'nt late april is it?
  15. Yeah, all seems obvious when you put it in simple points. Feel a bit silly for asking the question now, but thankyou anyway. I've learnt something today.
  16. Thanks for that Yarmy. So in a nutshell,it's all down to the gulf stream. Didn't realise it's effects whent so far north and east
  17. While it's a bit quieter here,i'll ask a question i asked a few days ago. Being a newbie when it comes to the models, how is it that the really cold air in the northern hemisphere always seems to be the other side of the atlantic. If you look at the hudson bay/newfoundland area,it's nearly allways far colder than say the north scandi siberia area. Why is this? they both share similar latitudes and are large land masses. I've got a hunch it might have something to do with the pv which seems to reside there most of the time.(this could be totally wrong though)
  18. Just to say that my remark was in no way having a go at david braine. we are lucky to have him.
  19. Hot news,iv'e spotted a trend in the weather, ian ferguson presenting on spotlight! Question is, will the trend continue??
  20. Still a newbie when it comes to the models but iv'e got a question which keeps occuring every time i view them. Why is it that it always seems so much colder over in the hudson bay ,newfoundland area than north scandi siberia area? They are both share similar latitudes and are large land masses. Just allways seems those lovely purples are reserved for the other side of the pond. I think the answer could have something to do with the PV been located there most of the time, but i could be wrong about this.
  21. He should come and play cricket with me, his timing of the wave is impecable. Not so sure about his dodgy diolog as the programe ends though. Ithink it's a case of, yes we have no bananas today. Drives me mad.
  22. Just switched on spotlight to watch david brain and guess what, ian fergusson presented instead. Is this just a one off or can we expect his company more often? Hope so.
