  1. ]You have just made my day.Didn't know that was back on again. Its not some dodgy dave repeat is it?
  2. If you put together all the snow i've seen here since about1980 , it would come to about 10% of what came down in 87. It's a shame but those types of event are 1 in a lifetime i think. would love to be proved wrong though.
  3. To be honest, i cant remember 1985 as being that special here. The only time i have seen big snow drifts was jan 1987,
  4. Allways the best month for cornwall i think. Good to see heights building in the atlantic, keeps us on the right side of marginal a lot better than recently. It's my birthday on 8 feb. Cant think of a better present than a bit of snow.
  5. No lightning here at the moment . I'am south of truro.Only light rain now aswell, blowing a gail though.
  6. Haven't been on the forum for 10 days (laptop got sick and had to go to hospital). Missed all the fun of the last half of the cold spell on here, but judging by the tv,most of us got what we wanted. Even down here we saw some snow (about 5cms monday morning) which came as quite a surprise as it was a rain to snow event.Something which basically, never happens here. Back to square one now however, same old wind and rain. Hope the pros on the other forum have got it right and we could be looking at something colder again soon. Feb is usually the best chance down here as the sea temp is at it's lowest Here's hoping anyway. .
  7. Think it depends where in cornwall you live.Haven't seen a snow flake yet and still looks watery for here on monday. Having said that,it has got a bit colder today(only2 degrees in st keverne 10 minutes ago).
  8. When it starts raining here, i'll let you guys up the road know the blizzards coming.
  9. Dont know what all the fuss is about to be honest. 7-8 degrees today an felt quite springlike. Think i might plant my first earlys tomorrow, here there's splash of rain coming at the weekend.
  10. Looks like we might have to drive to helston . meto gives them heavy snow nearly all day
  11. I would prefer a east or north east to be honest, with the low slipping underneath. Looks like quite a bit of south wind mixed in which is always going to lift the temps.
  12. Just looked at the met office website for Helston (cornwall) and they give 6 hours of snow on friday morning. If we could get a low far enough south to just scrape the cornish coast then i suppose this is a chance. Anyway, nice to see at least a chance for us down here . Wonder what people think about cornwall's snow chances later this week?
  13. I haven't seen a snowflake in 2 years. Think yourself lucky.
  14. Could not agree more . Beats casulty anyday. Dont think the wife agrees(who cares)
  15. I think Cornwall needs its own regional thread. Somewhere where us( haven't got a chance of snow in a million years club ) can drown our sorrows Time for me to close my laptop and pretend none of this cold spell is happening.
  16. Looks like this cold spell could be epic for those of us west of the tamar. Just think of us while your building your snowmen.
  17. Hi there blizzards. I take it you live in the falmouth area from your profile. I live just across the bay in porthallow.(south of helford river). Living right on the coast, getting snow is not easy. Personally i find a GH with north west winds, the best bet as the weather is coming at us over the spine of cornwall from say the newquay area. With these east wind channel low scenarious the risks are a lot higher. Apart from a few occassions most notabily 1987 they usually deliver rain rather than the white stuff.
  18. So do you think us at the end of the line ,might get lucky this time? Cant say ia'm that confident to be honest.Same old cold rain .
