  1. I here they are going to give fixed penalty notices for that kind of thing this summer I think it's a case of wait and see now. Just be happy there's a chance.
  2. The wheelhouse roof of my boat was white today.Bloody seagulls
  3. Hard to believe what's coming to be honest. Lovely day at the moment, sunny, quite pleasent To think that in 36 hours time i could be in the middle of a blizzard,INCREDIBLE .
  4. Another correction south on the 6z . looks like the best place to be on monday is on the plymouth-roskoff ferry
  5. Dont want to sound a bit IMBY but i have to say that just for once us little pixies might steel the limelight. Who would have thought. Still plenty of time for Pete Tong to put in an appearence though.
  6. My wife just looked at the local BBC forecast for falmouth and then asked me what the h**l was i doing, telling the kids it was going to snow. At no point does the BBC give any snow forecast for here.Rain until about midnight sunday and then dry all monday. I just dont understand how 2 forecasts i.e the one we are all talking about and the one the other 99.99% of people are seeing being so utterly different. I know they (BBC) have to be cautious but come on. I'am sure she thinks i'am a raving lunatic.
  7. Dont you think that this could all get shunted that bit further north and spoil the party for us on the coast. I see the 18z has already begun this process. Any shift northwards spells game over for us i feel
  8. So from the posts above, ia'm going to get a lenghtly period of snow but none of it will settle. Is that right? Cant help but thinking if only it was january.
  9. Well the spotlight forecast was a bit underwhelming to say the least. Sleet and snow reserved for southern coastal strips of dev/cornwall. Hang on a minute, thats where i live Max wind speeds not as strong either 24mph N/East for monday (nothing special)
  10. If it snows it snows,if it doesn't it doesn't. Living right down here,i never believe a snow forecast until the stuff is actually falling. What is looking more likely to happen now are the strong /gale East/N.East winds. With those wind directions, falmouth bay will look like a scene from the southern ocean!! Certainly get the bass feeding
  11. Got to say those wind speeds+direction are as exiting to me as the possible snow. Haven't had a real big east storm for many years now.If the GFS12z verified it would be a classic.
  12. See the yellow warning doesn't include most of cornwall. If you didn't laugh you'd cry. Biggest feature here on the coast, looks like being the strength of the East winds. Should bring massive seas in falmouth bay.
  13. Just watching the GFS 6z and wondering what similarities the current set up has with the fabled 1891 great blizzard. Certainly same time of year.Same gale force E/NE winds etc Probably a silly question because it's so long ago but are there any synoptic archive charts available from that time?. I would have thought, they wouldn't look to different to what's been shown now.
  14. Afraid,it's a case of believe it when i see it . Lost count over the years how many times these channel low 87 type events have failed to deliver. Always very knife edge stuff, especially for us on the coast. Low to far south, stays dry and cold. Low to far north, buckets of rain. Seems that any low pressure has to be positioned with pin point accuracy for us to benefit.
  15. Well it took to 4oclock but its sunny here now with blueish skies,v.pleasent. Hopefully be a nice evening. Could almost have a barbeque (almost )
  16. Looks like the worst of the rain might have passed now. Looking lighter out in the bay. Hope so,got work to do.
  17. If the models were showing these synoptics in Jan or early feb,i dont think i would be able to type this post for trembling excitement. I would be pacing up and down the living room making a permenent path in the carpet. Sleeping at night would be impossible without a double dose of night nurse and even then,i would have my alarm set for stupid o'clock to view the latest model offerings. Trouble is, i just cant get to exited,it's just to late in the season for me. Darn the weather. Edit i said TO exited. I am a bit exited.
  18. Same region, different world. Daffodil season just about over, all our lovely pickers are packing their bags. With a bit of luck we might see some tarmac poking through the mud soon.
  19. Just had about 5 mins of odd big raindrops(wasn't expecting any rain today) The models overnight are still showing this cold weather coming next week. Not sure quite what the projected 850 temps etc would actually have on surface conditions at this time of year. I'am hoping that by the middle of march,a lot of moderation due to stronger sun,day length etc would be needed. As i said last night,ia'm worried about potential damage to the gardens down here . Last year we lost most of our Echium's to wind damage in May, this year it looks like it might be frost. Hope not.
  20. Just looked at the GFS 12z and all i can say is,i hope it's wrong. Ia'm declaring myself a mildy now, winter is over as far as i am concerned. If that forecast verified it would give some very low night temps and do a lot of damage to emerging plants. Gardens are starting to wake up down here now, spring's coming. The cold is no longer wanted.
