  1. Best day for a while i think blizzards. Actually want to be outside rather than having to be outside, big difference.
  2. Much better day today. Sun really trying it's best (poor thing). Still windy but feels nicer, certainly less wind chill. You could almost say, feels spring like.
  3. Snow and ice in the middle of march in cornwall,no chance!! Have a look at this http://www.nmmc.co.uk/index.php?/collections/featured_pictures/the_great_blizzard_of_1891 I live two fields away from where the bay of panama came ashore, and walk the dogs there most evenings. Often imagine what it must have been like that night.
  4. The worst factor with the weather at the moment is the wind.Fresh again here this morning(F5-6) and gusty. Just makes for day after day of high windchill. The waxing and waning of this continuous Easterly flow really is a pain in the ....... As a side note, spoke to a farmer yesterday who said that the ground is now to hard to plough!! Soil gone from swamp bog to concrete in 3 weeks, increadible.
  5. Started typing out a reply but decided to delete it as this is not the place to air such views.Thankyou cerneman for the above,us inshore fishermen need all the friends we can get in our fight against public ignorance
  6. Looking at the GFS 6Z,the one thing that sticks out for me is the persistance of a east or south east wind. Apart from a couple of days around the beginning of low res,the whole run has an eastely bias. As a commercial fisherman working in falmouth bay, this is nothing short of a disaster, as it throughs up,on shore seas with larger sea states. Normally, east winds only have a longevity of a few days before some sort of break but just at the moment they seem relentless. Good job i do some garden work on the side because fishing at the moment is a no no.
  7. Sounds like good grayling fishing weather to me Thought you fish for them in the winter? Overcast skies, clear water, go for it.
  8. It's a lot fresher here at the moment. Force 5-6 NE Gonna be cold out there
  9. I know i've been moaning a bit lately but to be honest, the weather is'nt to bad at the moment. At least its dry,got a lot of garden work done, had a big bonfire today. I would take this weather rather than strong sw winds and driving rain. Thats probably reserved for the summer!!
  10. My advice, take that winter hat of,wrap it up and place in a safe place for later use. Unwrap your spring summer hat and put on.Bingo, suddenly today is not so bad,the temp has gone up and also that little drop of rain will do wonders for the garden, and the best thing is we can all start dreaming of a lovely snowy winter.
  11. Cant say the weather will be boring then Another 5-6 days of overcast dull cold weather with just enough of an east wind to s**g the fishing up,cant wait.
  12. One thing i think i can say with certainty is that the farmers down here are loving this weather. Last few days has seen fields of plastic appear now that the ground is drying out. Increadible really just how quick this seems to have happened. A dry gale force east wind,i'am sure, must have helped. Makes walking the dogs more enjoyable anyway. Good job my water butts are full, probably be a hose pipe ban in a few weeks
  13. One positive today, the wind has dropped. Gosh that was a bitter wind yesterday. Still very overcast but dry . If the sun could punch a hole through these clouds it could be a nice day. Agree with some recent posts, dont get the buzz from cold dry dull weather with basically no chance of snow or no prospect of it either. Cold for colds sake Hhhmmmm dont think so.
  14. Huge drop off of wind speeds in last 2 hours. Really quite calm now. A scene from fantasia always comes to mind when thinking about a storm. Could be Beethovens 6th accompanies this scene . Iknow it's some piece of classical stuff.
  15. I know this is'nt the topic of the moment, but when i read this,i was transported back to those glorious summers of years gone by. Saturday afternoons late80's playing cricket as a teenager in the village.hot and muggy and sweating pigs. back to the local for a few beers and as dusk falls, the odd distant rumble.Walking back home with warm 50 pence pieces hitting your face and then boom a good old storm. A week of hot sunny weather followed by a close, muggy thundery breakdown. weather just dosn't get better than that. Are these just ramblings of an old romantic fool or do some of you yearn for a return of those classic summers of our childhoods? Who knows, maybe this year.
  16. I dont think my kids would agree with your definition of a snowday. I think this makes 3 snow days now, must be a record.
  17. Basically, nothing coming out of the sky now (if there ever was to be honest) Didn't expect much but cant help feeling a little let down Suppose things can still change though.
  18. Bleakest day of the winter here, very overcast and biting gale force Eastely. Big big waves in the bay. There is just about something coming out of the sky,but it looks distinctly watery to me.Going to truro later, might see a grain or two there. EDIT I take it back,it is just about snowing just about
  19. Just come back from darts match, dosn't feel cold enough for snow. Think the wind has dropped a touch, making it feel less cold. Car still says 3 degrees though . Bit to warm for snow? Just to say, your website is great. Love the palm trees and the yatchs in the bay, come on summer
  20. Yes,thought so to. Strange for BBC to put up the heavy snow icon, normally they are v.conservative. Also see we've got good old sleet forecast for us(falmouth) They just cant bring themselves to put a snow symbol up for us.That really would be pushing it. EDIT spoke to soon, just plain old rain for falmouth now
