Quick question- Am i right in thinking that in an ssw the first response of downwelling is that the vortex will try a big push to organise itself before a full split occurs?

When does the warming take place exactly?
Its happening now, referring back to catacols post from last night, reversal should start in around 24 hours, it is i believe that by Monday/Tuesdays outputs they will start to realise how strong a reversal it is.

Couple of small showers gone through, rain with nothing more than a slight trace of ice in it.

Hi is there still a chance of snow in Kent Tuesday as last night's weather for the week head he said there could be a some snow as the winds swing round to a southerly direction.
Gonna have to be a radar and window watch, theres a slim chance but maybe the wrong side of marginal.
-
Mmm looking at radar its gonna be tight maybe just skirting Norfolk, unless it intensifies at all.
Not seeing a lot from the threads to our North either.

Sleety shower in Harlow.
Met office new forecast video says otherwise mate, take a watch, the band of snow up north is sinking SE through this evening givin snowfall to east anglia and Far SE take a watch mate.
Certainly the way i see it

Tail of the front now spreading down from the North, will it make it this far down? What will it be when it gets here? I think it is probably too far east already to affect most of the region.

They will want to issue a warning for ice as temps tommorow night drop below freezing after the late afternoon rain and freezing temps soon after, they issue warnings for no reason anyway, likewise yesterday mornings event was a dusting even where heaviest ppn was and no ice formed so no need for warning.
....And yet just up the coast from you in Ipswich we had snow and graupel showers in the late after noon and just after dark, they then cleared and the temp dropped to -2c which in turn froze all settled snow and slush solid. Then in the early hours we had 2cm off snow fall on our nicely prepared crunchy surface (more than a dusting). Unfortunately its like storms......One mans warning can be completely called for but just down the road another mans can seem a complete waste of time.

Just seen the weather ITV, apparently the showers still effecting some areas are still associated with last night front, it hasn't yet cleared us, is that right, or are they really losing the plot.
Here no sign of last night's little flurries. I don't think we've had anything fall since them either.
Just hanging on with it last occluding breath.

Just short of 2cm here in Ipswich, little better than monday, still light snow falling.
-
Lampost watch has detected a few flakes falling in a light breeze.
-
Slowed down to a few flakes now most melting away but a few surfaces staying white.
-
Now thick graupel shower, settling very quickly
Visibility very low.
-
A more steady graupel has given way to a steady light snow with a few slightly bigger flakes.

Graupel and some fine snow now starting to fall.

Not the greatest i've ever seen by a long shot but there is some nice looking convection around Ipswich, blue sky filling in and some dark bases.

Snow and Ice warning extended to cover mid and east Kent and Essex MetO showing light snow between 5pm and 8pm for Ashford tonight and then heavy snow changing to light snow between 3am and 9am tomorrow morning
I have a feeling we'll see more than yesterday!
I don't think they are so keen to put any numbers on accumulations like yesterday, that could be a good thing.

Veil of high stratus that was giving patchy light flurrys ahead of the front evaporating fast on sat24 imagery, this could now lead to some better convection breaking out over the North sea which could be where the talk of hail, snow and thunder comes from across EA.
-
Gonna be some very interesting radar watch over the course of today.

Radar shows snow in Suffolk at the moment edging its way towards London. Can anyone confirm this or is it another radar ghost reading?
There was talk yesterday of it maybe pushing back across Norfolk and maybe NE Suffolk giving 1-5cm maybe, surprised not to have seen any kind of report from up there.

A little trip to Tesco saw a brief flurry of graupel bouncing off cars.
