Well what do you make of this folks, its getting dragged across towards us if i run the animation
No mention on meto but its there and moving this way !!!!!!
Is this just not Scotland's endless supple for the next day!
Or do you think it will get us, (especially burton and scunny)
-
Just reading on fb that the snow could stall over Scotland for the next 24/36 hours. What causes this?
-
Have to agree its amazing here in scunny. Not the greatest of depth but still how it started here I expected nothing. I've had only about 3 hours sleep but I'm buzzzzzzzing. Just gutted my youngest daughters school is open but the eldest school is closed to which she replied I'm going back to bed!!!
And it's still snowing
-
Honestly I nearly went to bed at 11 as it was pants here, I was gutted. Not the deepest amount and gutted that during the day a lot of the standing snow had melted and then between 9-11pm the majority of it had been washed away with the slow start to this amazing turn around
Glad im2 days off work

Still another 8 hours left for scunny area according to bbc, METO and yr. no !
All showing heavy snow all be its not been heavy really all night!!! Apart from a 5 min spell
Fingers crossed they got it all spot on with their estimated snowing times!!!!
-
pity the wind coudnt have swung around to an easterly or north easterly, wed be snow bound!!!
Watching the bbc weather bit a go shows it becoming a strong easterly once this front moves further up! I think that's why the snow continues in this area of the region (north lincs) even though that front is further north.
-
I really do hope this does keep going for north linc to the times the bbc and METO have predicted
Also looking at bbc weather chance of another bit of snow tonigh!!
Any chance that convection will come straight in up the Humber giving scunny another top up
-
A few images of my garden and street in scunny north lincs.
To be honest scunny has only really had one ten minute spell of very heavy snow with BIG flakes the rest has been smallish flakes at a varied speed been blown around in the blustery wind.
-
Is that in holland heading our way as well. If so I'm guessing that's what will keep the heavy snow for n lincs and other till midday and further on! Hope its overs north and south of the region. Share it round equally
-
METO still have heavy snow and amber here until midday today and they've changed the heavy probability to 95% from 80% for midnight and 3am,
the rest are still 80% so far.
Where does it give you the probability?
Forget that I've just opened my eyes and seen. Doh!
-
Coming down bigtime now, so hopefully it will start to settle more now.
METO did say 00:00 for heavy snow and to continue till 12:00 and I will let them off for been 30 mins late. If this keeps up there will be a good covering.
Come on METO don't let the folk of scunny and north lincs down
-
Game on -all settling- keeping me awake now-really heavy also - brill - all white again
Really wet in scunny. Going to take some real heavy snow to get this to really pay off!
Just didn't strt well here and it still seems to be not fully snow, still a mixture of rain in it
-
Still snowing in scunny.
Also probably lost more than we've gained lol
Really can not see from the radar where the ext 12 hours of snow re coming from????
Hope it's my lack of weather knowledge and I'm missing something.
-
If you look on the radar it looks like the front is constantly being fed from N/E France.
METO have us under it until Monday evening and they've got all the decent gear to know whats happening.
Is this just north of the region or for north lincs and south of Yorkshire?
-
Is this really going to last till midday tomorrow. It looks lie its moving very quickly through the region.
Or it did till the radar stopped
-
Really wet snow here but still its snow!!
Is this going to stall over our region ( including north lincs??!!)
-
Very wet but just signs that the roads are getting a covering. Good sign
-
The heavier stuff should reach here very soon.
Do you think it will settle with how wet it is. Dew point is at 0 !!!!
-
Don't worry folks, the snow is on its way to you, its just frustratingly slow
What happens is we see a general rotation of precipitation from East to West, so it forms out in the north sea, and gets rotated westwards, slowly edging northwards the whole time.
It take a while to reach you but once it does...well, lets put it this way, theres still a few flakes falling down here in NW Essex now, it started snowing at 8am this morning, and got progressively heavier through the day. Have ended up with around 5-6 inches of fresh snowfall. I am at the upper reaches of the totals in my region, but when you consider that the system is tracking over much deeper waters for you guys than it was here, and its going to move even more slowly that it did here, you should be in for a good night
Incidentally if it starts off as rain/sleet near coastal areas around you don't be surprised. I forecast for another website and the reports we are getting indicate that there is a very slight warm sector just to the northern flank of the band, but move inland (or near the coast wait for the heavier precipitation to arrive) and it will turn to snow.
Good luck to you all!
SK
Great post. Enjoy the snow.
-
It's very hard to tell as it's very light lol.The radar shows heavier precip coming our way soon though,so i think we will do ok in a little while.
I'm hoping so. We just seem to be skirting round the edge of it at the moment.
-
MOTO now put the heavy snow back till midnight or scunny. Suppose temps may be cooler if anything.
But extended the heavy snow till midday lol
Do they really know or is it just roll the dice n see what number they get????!!!!!!
-
Snowing lightly here in scunny. Not flakes though and so far has just really wet everywhere. Still only the tip of what's to come
( hopefully )
Bbc has put the heavier snow back a couple of hours as well for scunny
-
Has anyone rally been following the precipitation on radar. Where is the heavy section likely to hit land? What county is going to get a dumping ?
-
Scunny
Temp 1.7 degrees
Dew point -1 degrees
Wind speed 12 km/h in an easterly direction with gets up to 30km/h
Wind chill -2degrees
AND IT'S JUST STARTED SNOWING (very very lightly)

Just had an epic 2 hours sledding in scunny
Loving it and in the park there has been a good 8-10 cm if not more
Just need a total turn round in the prediction on the latest runs and see this mild completely fail
