Just started raining here. A lot of dark cloud cover rolling in.
-
And another none event for the isle of wight :-(
-
I thought at lunchtime the southwest/central thread would be like this so enjoy and feel free to gloat :-(
-
AWD your post's/predictions have been spot on so hats of to ya. Would have been nice if you made a complete hash of things though mate ;-)
-
And I thought snow was hard to predict. Really enjoyed developments on this thread guys but what a let down for the region. I keep looking at the sky thinking - how ??
-
Just keep using this thread for local updates. Very accurate so far.http://www.isleofwightweather.co.uk/live_storm_data.htmstill very humid though but I agree your little bit you posted up a couple of hours ago was very accurate indeed.
-
All I'm gonna get is steady rain. Every storm tracked locally just weakens. I think today is a right off. :-(
-
I agree. Every time a poss storm approaches it gets weaker as it moves inland. Early days though. Let's see what darkness brings !this really is disappointing I noticed on the fella from the isle of whites weather station the storms were weakening I think inland will do well.I just cant believe it that all week not nothing rubbish.
-
Raining quite heavy now.

Here's the link to my current local conditions. If anyone is interested. Just scroll down page. http://www.isleofwightweather.co.uk

Some pretty impressive cloud formations layering up to the sw of me at the mo. Very dark too.Wish I had a decent SLR to take some pics.wheres all the southern isle of white crew please send reports gonna be a nice view across the channel.
-
So hope your right. Missed everything so far.Looking at radar it looks as though the main course is just leaving the kitchen In Cherbourg and the waiter is heading towards IoW. Not clear just how far west that will spread but the band of rain does appear to be getting wider as well as intensifying.
-
Looking to the south of the island (beyond ventnor/niton) the sky looks very dark so I guess change is on the way. (My basic take on a now cast). Lol
-
If that weather system over Biscay doesn't weaken as it passes over English channel then I reckon the Isle of wight and surrounding areas will get more than what is currently forecast. One thing for sure, I won't be drawing my curtains when it gets dark :-)

This is the most SENSATIONAL summer chart from 3 different perspectives from tonight's Ecm 12z that I have seen in a long time and would top anything we have had so far, it's better than EPIC, the heat, the humidity and the storm potential are off the scale..WOW and EP
IC
don't do it justice. [/quoteOff topic but I love frosty's last unnessasery pic at the bottom. Made me laugh !

We need it mate. Looks more like Majorca down here. (Was out there three weeks ago). We've been unlucky with lighting strikes, none what so ever. But looking like next week holds a bit more promise.Agree with that mate. Although where you are, some lightning to your east is a possibility. You do look like getting wet though, but amounts hard to call, even this close to the event.

As an isle of wight resident I'm guessing things could get pretty lively 24 hours from now. I'm not going to hold out much hope for a light show tomorrow but some significant rainfall is deffo on the cards. Your thoughts ?
-
Thought so. Be nice if it comes off. Been very humid and dry here.Potentially, yes!
-
Am I right in thinking that chart puts the Isle of wight in the firing line ?This is the 72 hour updated FAX from the Met Office;
Thunderstorm development is possible anywhere between the front and the 564DAM line. The closer you are to the front though, the greater the risk increases.
This is likely to change however. Just trying to give an idea on how tricky this weekends weather is to call.
-
Nothing what so ever on the isle of wight. Boo !
-
Thanks for the info. I'm slap bang in the middle of the island in the Arreton valley. Really hoping for a light show tonight !woo hooo just had this email alert from isle of wight thunderstorm alert. I have had a few over the last couple of days but this one is the only one showing "intensifying"... god knows where it is and it is prob miles away in the channell - but never the less all part of the crescendo to the main event!!
