  1. Here in New Romney, Kent next to coast I’ve never known it to feel so cold this time of year. The onshore breeze is pronounced add how overcast and it seriously does not feel like summer is imminent.
  2. Yes seems to be forgotten about on 27th, quite remarkable 31.9C in central London. We did see higher in 1940s though…
  3. Thought this place would be interested in a typical spring now London would see 27C, we are currently far below this with 21.4C and it is unclear whether it will be exceeded.
  4. It’s already wettest May in Italy in 60 years this is not normal. They are saying in Sicily the weather is like November.
  5. It does sunny south coast for example… e.g. Hastings 1914.18 hours
  6. Brightening up here in inner south London and feeling warm, 21C. Clearer skies moving in from west.
  7. One of flops of year 20C and sunny spells forecast this afternoon in London the reality 13C and thick low cloud, it didn’t budge it attempted but ultimately failed then consolidated. Not really acceptable weather this with 2 weeks till start of summer.
  8. I must admit it did feel cool today in London, that northeasterly breeze was noticeable and surprisingly brisk for mid May. 11C in middle of afternoon with gloomy grey skies it belongs to November.
  9. Crazy wet as well in central from constant downpours I had 140mm one of my wettest months.
  10. Yes I was surprised how common it used to be from 1973:
  11. I agree with you and @Sunny76 since 2018 there have been many summer months while usable they were not good on the sunshine. 2019 and 2020 was a strong example of that to me, them muggy and grey days with patches of sun are really not my favourite. It honestly makes me depressed up north what they routinely experience, I saw in summer 2021 in parts of Scotland some were saying it was best summer in living memory I looked at the stats and it looked like an average summer month at best in the SE. It tells you how different our expectations are. People are too used to mediocre weather in this country especially issue further north perhaps that is climate there it certain seems to vary quite significant with London summer climate which would be unusual to not see a week of uncomfortable warm weather.
  12. Anyway I thought this will be interesting to monitor. 19.1C current 2023 high at Heathrow it’s entered top 10 latest in 50 years of daily records since 1973.
  13. The thing is PWS are just that unofficial, I routinely see them be 2-3C above what they should be on warm sunny days. My garden at back is thankfully heavily shaded so my readings are often very close to official. They are not meant to be in gardens they should be in open fields away from buildings ect.
  14. The wind is not coming off the sea today it’s coming over land. Your likely max was 18C. No chance you had 20C today.
  15. Your weather station is overheating this is common in strong sunshine, in not well ventilated environments. The official station had ~17C.
  16. Well the Azores HP seems to have had very little influence on this spring so far, not much to suggest a radical change really.
  17. People have every right to moan there are 12 months in year and majority of them are not suitable. This is a time of year when we can see lovely, sunny and warm conditions the window of opportunity is shrinking. A.poor May and that would put great expectation for summer to deliver well.
  18. I wouldn’t recommend this to folk it’s not particularly powerful air conditioner unit 7000BTU. I bought a more powerful unit 12000BTU for cheaper, that was on sale though. The only issue is high use of energy about 30% more than this one but to expected. here it is currently on sale for £349 I think it’s a steal for cooling power. electriQ 12000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner P12C | Appliances Direct WWW.APPLIANCESDIRECT.CO.UK Buy electriQ 12000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner P12C from Appliances Direct - the UK's leading online appliance specialist
  19. Raining on London marathon very unusual on this day it’s raining, the weather is typically good this time of year and often quite a bit warmer than current 10-11C… maybe it’s good weather for runners.
  20. What it was good? In fact my experience of it excellent, one of sunniest April’s on record. It wasn’t even that cold. and perfectly manageable dressing appropriately… the nights were cold and that was why negative anomaly was so marked.
  21. I think I have the culprit the final warming is happening this coming week the breakdown of winter polar vortex, on top of the downwelling waves of SSW in February -AO/-NAO is favoured to take hold. The odds of April being first below average month has increased somewhat.
  22. Lack of warmth in context using Heathrow.
