  1. Apologies, but I'm very much the same. Admittedly I should know better than to go into the MAD thread for some sort of guidance, but everytime there's a blue or purple colour covering some or most of the UK, then the likes of Frosty go into hyper drive and make outlandish comments of snow, blizzards etc etc. My very limited understanding of the weather seems to think that you need some sort of moisture or similar in amongst the cold air to produce snow? So just because it shows that it's going to be cold, doesn't always mean it's going to snow? Or am I, as I suspect, talking complete jibberish?? *Sorry*!!
  2. For the non-technically minded folk who DO wish to follow this site purely to gain an understanding as to whether it’s likely to rain, sleet, snow or blizzard at this time of year rather than worrying about splitting PV’s or whatever else it is they do, please please continue posting Martin. Personally I find your comments and non-biased summary an extremely useful tool amongst some of the excitement that occurs from time to time. On behalf of the silent types that enjoy reading them, thank you!!
  3. 1st prize for the quote of the day for me.....if not the week/month!! Really sorry, totally off topic I know, but couldn't have said it any better!!!
  4. Frosty, are you Nathan Rao in disguise?? "reload" and "arctic blast". We'll all be "braced" next....! ;-)
  5. That's very good! And not far from the truth. And that Mr. Rao's adoration of Messrs Madden & Powell matches that to which one of the regulars on their is seemingly held.
  6. It's that, combined with the fact that they're always looking for snow, and not just cold, which tends to distort the comments that many make, and also that they seem to be obsessed with what's possibly going to happen over a week away rather than what's ahead in the coming 3 or 4 days. Frosty appears to be something akin to a Daily Express reporter at the moment with constant use of adjectives like "reload" and "arctic blasts"!
  7. Couldn't agree with these sentiments more. I understand that after a mild and wet few weeks that the cold weather fans would get excited at the promise of the first cold spell of the season, but some of the frothing at the mouth, hypes, ramps etc has been ridiculous, even for the model thread!! Almost Nathan Rao like....the Model thread is "braced" etc:)
  8. Surely for the time of year that's not a bad thing. Positives from negatives, glasses half full, patience being a virtue etc etc....
  9. Thanks for a level headed post! For those tryuing to get their head around what's likely to happen it's appreciated!
  10. There's ALWAYS excitement on the Model Forum. Judging by some of the posts when comparing them to the more measured comments from the non-biased sources, it might be that some are getting a little over excited and ahead of themselves, but we shall see.
  11. Surely Frosty's always in a frenzy??? *Frosty is the best thing about this site by the way, summer or winter, cold or hot, his enthusiasm knows no bounds*
  12. You'll get used to it! It took me a long, long time to work out what was going on, but eventually you get an idea as to who posts with cold/mild bias and who actually says what's going on within the models without any added bias. Gibby's summaries are a good starting point I'd suggest.
  13. Lots of excitement all of a sudden with regards to cold "potential". Talk of change around mid-month (which is 7 days away if my maths is correct), and yet reading Mr. Gibbs summary I see this....so you'll excuse me while I sit & wait to see what happens. In Summary the weather looks like being very changeable over the period with fast changing scenarios between mild and cloudy weather with some rain, especially in the North and West mixed with brighter and drier weather if colder with wintry showers and night time frosts more especially over the North and East. All in all it looks a typical Autumn pattern of weather over the next few weeks with something for everyone unless it's severe frosts, fog and snow your after.
  14. An unpopular take on things I know, but it's lovely to have had the heating on so far this autumn. Indeed I've even had windows flung wide open at night. Long may it continue!! *Shuffles away from thread*
  15. Good Morning to the lovely friendly SE thread.....it's a B.E.A. utiful morning in Horsham......long may this continue! Have good days all.
  16. My sympathies, that'll be me too unfortunately. That's makes me such a miserable so & so when everyone's breaking out the bunting when snow arrives as it has a huge impact on what I/we do. But hey ho....it'll soon blow through with a bit of luck. :-)
  17. Thanks for the replies folks....it seems unusual from my experiences of keeping tabs on severe weather events such as snowfalls etc, so thought I'd ask the question. There's also that lingering nagging doubt that for once rags like the Express could be right, which needless to say I hope isn't the case! Thanks again!
  18. As you folks are far more experienced with these things than I am, how unusual would you say it is for the Met to issue an Amber warning this far out, and one which is fairly strongly worded too?
  19. Ok so this cold wind/weather can eff off back up from where it came from!! #bringbacksummer *Rant Over* :-)
  20. Yes, sunshine, warmth, people out and about enjoying themselves with smiles on their faces.....terrible isn't it.....
