  1. i guess it really depends on your dew point and to an extent your current temps, hopefully we are going to see a cooling off again soon..one can only be hopeful.
  2. its starting to get dark here. its marginal at best for us at lower levels maybe a little better for higher elevations. The beeb keep banging on about heavy snow for n ireland which is not exactly tallying with airport forecasts.
  3. you have 4.7C? our dew point is now 0C and 2.6C..this is majorly borderline just when a nice intense band of snow hits the wirral. just found this site for those who dont understand airport forecast taf's it has the long taf and full forecast explantion UK airport taf and explanation of forecast
  4. wouldnt worry about what the beeb say too much lol Liverpool is perhaps the only place on earth where if we where in an iceage it would be gloriously warm and sunny..thanks to all the polluting companies in this city..leave your window open and within 5 days they are black with god knows what no wonder it never snows..last time a good dumping ie over at least 5 or 6 inches was something like 1982...so something major has changed to stop it snowing
  5. Temp now 2C Dew point -1C Think the band has stalled right slap bang in the middle of the irish sea, looking at whisps of cloud hitting the region at roughly southport area..but its deffo not moving towards liverpool with any speed. Be nice to know what temp the irish sea is right now?
  6. well dew point has risen again to -1C and temp now 1.2C this is not looking good..that band is taking an eternity to arrive..and i fear the only thing anyone is going to see is rain perhaps sleet its now turned to sleet in dublin.
  7. lets see what happens from 3pm on id say, there is meant to be a better chance of snow even at ground level during the evening hours as temps drop off again...i hope we also see that snow from tomorrow night reach as far north as merseyside, halton it could be interesting if it does..looks like it could produce a hell of a lot of snow..would be ironic if we got nothing today or tomorrow..that to me would mean the entire country got some good snow..apart from northwest nevada desert lol
  8. your not joking there, cant understand the radar producing gaps then filling them, especially when it does appear to once again intensify lol
  9. i've a feeling this is our last good chance for a dumping this winter..cant see any of the snow from the south reaching this far north, but you never know..i think it's either today for this region or never..dew points are holding steady so far this morning which is a good positive sign along with the temp which hasnt shifted at all..good conditions but i just hope that is snow out there on the Irish sea, number of places that cloud is over, is not showing any snow apart from armargh
  10. welcome to the forums, id say your chance is probably as good as the above post
  11. there is currently a band of snow thats according to gfs nw radar precip type heading west towards your region so you never know and it should intensify over northern ireland this afternoon, as long as the sea dont warm it up too much your good for some snow id have to say
  12. snow in armagh, but the other webcams are poorly positioned..mind you i clicked on chester and it isnt looking to rosey there, their dew point is -0.8C and their temp is is at 0.2C mind you our temp is exactly the same but we still have -2C dewpoint..i think there is going to be a cut off point of the snow, and that being wales western most parts and north from liverpool even then it could be touch and go further north until around 3ish this afternoon as temps and dew points drop off again...might be in for are really good dumping..but the more optimisitc i feel for those like me at near ground level or even at sea level near to liverpool, southport and likely blackpool and inland from there..i can see the coasts getting slightly more than a good dusting, and even more after dark for a time.
  13. have a look at the snow chance on the gfs it isnt looking as good as it was on its last run. but then again i really really shouldnt be using that lolol unfortunately we didnt really get anything from monday, id say maybe a slight dusting..if i remember it was pretty poor for us, so this could be the best we have seen all winter.
  14. I only have the radar package..i just use the free gfs with the radar kind works out nice really. it does look like a load of snow out there in the irish sea, though nowhere near as intense as it was coming out of ireland but thats to be expected i guess but id like to see that bigger darker band to head further south than it currently is. I agree deffo with the se potential especially as it hits the wind from the north. Latest beeb forecast has the snow lasting in the region until around 11pm, with the more heavier snow from about 3-11pm, the good thing is we'll still cop this stuff from the irish sea well before then, even if its only light with the amount out there it could produce quite a covering..though i saw a few glitches with the radar before, so i doubt the defragmentation is that bad lol the temp cant make its mind up, now its back to -1.4C lol Dew still at -2C.
  15. yeps and also a shame it spilt up during the night. Problem now is whether we are going to see a warm sector of air ahead of that main snowband heading west. slight temp climb here dew has gone up from -3C to -2C but then previously it fell back to -3C, my other concern is the temp..beeb say max is 2 and predominately heavy snow for liverpool and region..I am not so sure. mind you we have upper air at -8C so it might not be so bad afterall
  16. I always hate snow coming of the irish sea, it will probably defragment quite a bit leaving it far more patchy, though the stuff behind could prove interesting if the bbc are to believed tonight, there could be a serious dumping from north wales northwards. temp now -0.4C Dew Point -2 wind chill -4 Oh dear dew point going back up again..it really needs to be steady. and temps slowly climbing. I am hoping this dew point doesnt climb any higher.
  17. actually according to the latest forecast and latest nw radar your in the direct firing line. for us slightly further south the band of intensive snow is certainly loosing its intensity..bbc forecast on news 24 now 856am they definately down playing day time snow compared to the BBCi forecast at 830am, who knows thats maybe a good thing as temps will be that much lower..but i think some definate snow coming through in the next couple of hours.
  18. the band of intensifying snow has moved imperceptibly slightly further south and if that hits thats quite a heavy band of snow but as i look at it, it seems to either be defragmenting a little bit or its loosing its intensity or i may well be wrong its hard to tell on this pass. Just checked on BBCi virgin media and just seen the forecast, looks pretty impressive with practically the whole of the northwest under heavy snow by 3pm..just out of curiosity if this is going to come off why hasnt the met upgraded to a warning or severe warning..the bbc forecast looks to me like a nice big dumping for most people unless they are very wrong..but dont they get that info from the met?
  19. Hale, Halton about 10 miles east of liverpool..just checked the bbc forecast for liverpool which serves our area and it says predominant weather for today heavy snow
  20. fingers crossed this is a good event and not another let down, windchill has also dropped to -5c though i expect that wont have much of an impact.
  21. dew point back to -3C had another peep at the latest radar on nw..that snow has really begun to intensify off the irish coast, before it was a mere blob and now its growing..fingers crossed..the fact the dew point has dropped again can surely only mean good news..
  22. temp -1 up from -2c about 10 mins ago. dew -2 up from -3 windchill -4 wind direction se I am hoping the dew point wont rise before the snow hits. It's looking promising on the latest radar image, snow intensifying of the coast of ireland. what does not help is the split in the front that as occured part of the split front heading sse and the other towards scotland. I think sadly your going to be right about the elevation factor for this event. Though fingers crossed the band does intensify a lot i am hoping it keeps the dew point down enough to give even lower elevations a good few inches from this..it looks perfect on the radar..shame we missed most of it, as it split
  23. Temps still steady at -2C dew still -2. Mind you the radar looks like its having a fit here on nw lol from snow to moderate heavy bursts to suddenly all rain, but it appears to bip every so often. still showing a nice band of heavy snow over ireland heading directly for us, it hasnt changed track, so this could be promising..prolly only last a few hours at best, but it could be a good dumping looking at the latest radar.
  24. take a look at the radar, and take a look at the current temps and the dew point all those point to snow..now its just a question of whether warmer air will hit before the snow arrives. looking at the current set up and the gfs I cant see it warming up that much to prevent it. but then again this is the north west and even when we are in the firing line it always takes a detour
  25. Temp: -2°C Humidity: 100% Wind Speed: 2 KMH Wind Direction: SSW (210°) Barometer: 1002 mb Dewpoint: -2°C Heat Index: -2°C Wind Chill: -2°C Visibility: 11 km Everything is right for snow, but looking at radar over ireland all I am seeing is moderate rain? actually doing a time lapse of 2 hours is showing it's a glitch on the radar, and looking at it, is is moving west directly for us, and there is a lot of moderate to heavy snow in there. considering the cold pool of air over us right now, as long as it doesnt start to warm up, which is the fear tbh i cant see that happening, this ppn will hit us in the next couple of hours
