No, that was last years one!

Excellent

It's just that somewhere in chrome it's caching to the old ip, it should clear - perhaps reboot or at the very least restart chrome. Beyond that it should sort itself soon enough as it's certainly not a widespread chrome problem.

A bunch of posts removed this evening, can we get back to the weather chat and friendly banter please..

For those who'd like to put some xmas decorations up on the forum, the Christmas skin is now available

If you fancy putting up the Christmas decorations on the forum you now can - just head down to the bottom left hand corner of the page, click 'Change Theme' and choose the Happy Christmas option:
This skin will work fine on desktop and most tablets, but it's not especially mobile phone friendly I'm afraid.
Hope you enjoy using it :smiliz19:

It sounds like chrome is caching the old server ip address, trying clearing your browser cache.

Can we bring this back to the models please, there are other threads for discussing met office and bbc output..

im confident that this ecm chart is ready for the bin very messy.
but the over all trend is still there
Don't want to ruin the ride and excitement here, but realistically the evolution shown on that chart could happen, saying it needs to go in the bin sounds like you're basically wanting to discount it because it's not showing what you want. It's this sort of thing which leads to the massive disappointments when things don't come off.

It'll settle down I think - it's those people who for whatever reason are still coming through to the old setup which are having the issues I believe.

While we're waiting on the 1st of today's 12z's to run through - here's the latest from Jo looking at the remainder of this week..

Going to lock this one in the next 30 minutes and open a fresh thread in time for the 12z's.

That's based on the GFS(P) 00z having a fair bit of lying snow at the time from the storm it showed on the 28th
Not sure exactly how much though as there doesn't seem to be a scale bar anywhere
Will fix that, not entirely sure why it's disappeared!

Should be cleared and working fine now.

Can I ask. Why is the operational GFS run different to the average/mean GFS run (sorry if thats not the right words but you know the one I mean.
I would (ignorantly) think that the operation run would be the average of all the gfs members? that that would be how they come up with the run?
The GFS is run at a different resolution to the ensembles and is a separate model, it's a single deterministic model rather than a multi-member probabilistic model.

They should have cleared now
-
We're making some changes to the servers currently which are throwing up some certificate errors, it's nothing to panic about and will clear soon

You can try flushing it - if on windows follow these instructions to do it - won't be a guaranteed fix because it's also down to the DNS provider/ISP to have their end updated too, but worth a try:

Thanks John, although It's just a case of waiting for the various ISP's to update their records now - all should be over within 24 hours. Those hitting the old one may well find it's slow and a bit up and down, once over to the new one it should run much better.
-
Thanks Paul
I managed to get back after tracking an active IP and used that, I have it as 5.79.36.37 which seems to be working (albeit slowly).
That's the old one you're still on currently - you should update to the new one (which is running a lot better) soon.
-
Apologies for the downtime on the forum today, there was a fairly major failure on one of our load balancers which has yet to be sorted, so we've moved to a new load balancer with a new ip address.
This means that in some cases it can take up to 24 hours for the the new ip address to update across the net, so if you're here already welcome - it'll be a fairly gradual process until everyone is over!
-
is it really? i've heard this said before on here but never really given it much thought. Do the METO use it in their long range forecasts? If was that decent then surely they ought to?
On the flipside, NOAA and the NCDC do appear to have faith in it, spend time/money running and updating the model so if there was no value in it, you'd think they wouldn't bother?

Your post may have been fine, but it would have looked a bit out of place on it's own when the rest of the conversation you were commenting had been removed!
