  1. The original post which caused some of the recent comments has now been edited, so please can we get back on topic now.

The comments since have been noted, and as ever I'd just say that it's not down to just the team to look after the forum, the whole community has a part to play, so please report posts you have an issue with rather than responding in the thread.

    Thanks

    Paul

  2. For those looking to follow the potential stormy weather this week, there's a thread set up to discuss it here:

    https://forum.netweather.tv/topic/81943-possible-stormwind-event/page-4#entry3083600

This isn't to say it can't be discussed in here, as obviously there's plenty of model related discussion which can occur around it, but for more general chat and forecasts, that's the thread to head to.

  3. Ok so this is my 2nd year reading this thread, and slowly learning.

Feeling brave enough to post a chart....

So am I right in seeing that this fax chart has an occluded front and a trough both above the 528 dam line meaning anywhere above that 528 dam line has the potential for sleet/snow?

Or am I way off the mark.

Still learning and I'm starting with met office, however I notice it doesn't show uppers.

    Thanks for any replies/help.

    Ian

That's about correct - although the 528 line is a very rough approximation of where there may be a risk of snow :)

  4. This isn't due to go live on the site until tomorrow, but since I just finished the main part of it I thought I'd share in here.

We've now got free viewers for the NetWx-SR and NetWx-MR models (were the NMM's) - our in house hi-res models. The SR is a short range (48 hour) 4km model for the UK, with the MR running out to 7 days at 12km resolution.

    SR:

    MR

I hope you like them :D

Ps - For Netweather Extra (and Extra Lite) subscribers these pages will automatically take you to the subscriber versions of these charts rather than the free one if you're logged in.

Just thought I'd repost this, as it's all live and properly linked up on the site now.

  5. We need to drop this now, there's no point getting into a slanging match about un-named posts/posters. If anyone has an issue with a post then they can/should report it - the team will look at it, and since there are a number of us we can come to a hopefully balanced view and go from there.

If you think a member is out to cause trouble but don't have a post in front of you, you can even report them from their profile. And of course there's always the option to drop a member of the team a pm with any concerns you may have.

If someone isn't breaking rules in your opinion, but you still don't enjoy their posts, you can block them:

    https://forum.netweather.tv/index.php?app=core&module=usercp&tab=core&area=ignoredusers

So beyond that, there really should be no need for this type of thing to be covered in this or any other thread. For the avoidance of doubt though, this thread is for model related moans, banter and ramps, not member related.

  6. Just thought I'd take a chance to show off our new model tracker this morning :D

Last 4 00z's from the ECM and GFS are shown - all for the 10th of December at 00:00 - just to see how they're both handling the potential storm next week. Fair to say there's a reasonable amount of uncertainty with it, with the GFS perhaps more consistent over the last few days, and certainly less progressive than the ECM has been.

  7. I think with any sort of like/dislike, vote up/vote down button their use is open to interpretation - not everyone has the same idea of what may or may not be deserving of a like/dislike. That in itself is fine, if someone wants to like a post for whatever reason then it's up to them really, that's kind of the point of it.

But where it gets more difficult and can create controversy is when that same option is there with a dislike type button as by it's nature it's seen as negative to both those reading and the person who made the post. So someone wants to like a post just because it talks about cold weather (for example) they are well within their rights, and no-one is likely to get upset about it. But clearly people disliking a post just because it talks about the wrong weather type is going to create some hassles!
