  1. The like buttons were always something of an experiment, and what we've found is that they do occasionally cause some friction - whether it be people wondering why their own post wasn't liked by a particular person but someone elses was, or why someone liked a particular post and so on. So we have switched back to the original system, where everyone can still show appreciation for a post but without the names on them just to remove that possible cause for problems.
  2. Blog update - it's a great time to be skiing or snowboarding: Spring in the alps - even the mannequins are hitting the slopes
  3. Ah, Spring in the Alps - is there a better time to be skiing or snowboarding? Especially now the holidays are over. View the full blog here
  4. If you upload them direct to the forum they'll show - just hit the more reply options button on the post editor and you'll see the upload bit near the bottom
  5. But if it were a problem locally on the servers or the network within the datacentre then everyone would be affected, which they weren't. We also have external monitoring which tests connectivity and speed of response every minute from locations both in the UK and worldwide, none of which showed even a small spike. Trust me, when there are problems with the servers I'm the first person to want them fixed but this time there's nothing to fix. The likeliest explanation is that there was a network problem into the region our servers are in, think of it as a delay on a particular motorway or A road somewhere on the UK network - not everyone will take that route as there are multiple routes to each destination, only some destinations will be affected and as there are millions of destinations/sites out there you may only use one which you happen to use that route to reach.
  6. No, as that would show up on monitoring of the connectivity into the server/site and it didn't - we have independent monitoring from various locations and none of them flagged anything at all.
  7. I'd recommend clearing your browser cookies and cache, 9 times out of 10 it solves problems like that (on here and on other sites).
  8. The problems aren't something on our side, all the servers are fine and it's definitely unrelated to the data issue we had on the forecasts first thing this morning. Perhaps it's something on the UK backbone network somewhere between some locations and our servers.
  9. And anyway, can we keep this to the model output please..
  10. Can we keep this topic to actually discussing the model output please - chat about what weather we want to see (or not) needs to be elsewhere, if it has a model slant then a good place is the model banter thread: http://forum.netweather.tv/topic/78680-model-banter-moans-and-ramps-winter-201314/
  11. I'd recommend clearing your browser cache as we don't have the 'interesting item' popup bottom right any more. The slide out on the right is user initiated, so will only slide out if you mouse over the arrow or click it. When you say twitter ad, do you mean the small twitter tweet count at the top?
  12. We've had to put some protection onto the site to stop people embedding pages / parts of the site without permission, unfortunately that does mean that our old/legacy 4web feeds aren't currently working as they also use frames (the new ones use images, so aren't affected). If you can change the address to data.netweather.tv instead of www, netweather.tv though, it should work again for you
  13. Very strange, which browser were you using previously?
  14. I'm not aware of any problems which may be causing this (I've not heard any other reports either), what happens when you try to access that part of the forum, does it just hang or do you get some sort of error message?
  15. Lol no, not a bug. The top of the forum homepage just shows the latest images uploaded to the gallery, so they'll change quite regularly.
  16. I asked this earlier and since then a decent number of the posts have been off topic. Can those using this thread can actually use it to discuss the model output please, there are lots of places to post non model stuff on the forums.
  17. Latest from Jo - some rain, some wind but some drier slots in between. http://www.netweather.tv/index.cgi?action=news;storyid=5691;sess=
  18. Can we keep it to the models please, the bickering and point scoring is very tedious.
  19. This is how it works by design currently, as it's part of a security mechanism to ensure only one person can be logged into their account at a time. We are looking at ways to open it up to allow people to stay logged in on a couple of devices but that's not been implemented as yet
  20. Without looking in to how it's coded into websites I couldn't tell you tbh - it's not something we control though.
  21. It's something which some websites use to automatically add a link when people copy and paste off of their sites. You should be crediting sources anyway, and ensuring you have permission to re-produce any content anyway though.
  22. That looks iffy to me, and the url which the authenticate link goes to doesn't appear to be a microsoft one (I've removed it from your post btw - just in case someone clicks it).
  23. Please carry on with the model discussion here. If your post is more of an emotional reaction to the models (like - "This run is bad" , "This run is a shocker" , "That's it, the cold isn't coming", "This run is amazing!!!!!") please post it into the model banter, moans and ramps thread so we can keep this thread more discussion based. http://forum.netweather.tv/topic/78680-model-banter-moans-and-ramps-winter-201314/ Major Forecasting ModelsGFSECMWFECMWF EPSGEFS EnsemblesUK MetFaxGEMCompare The Big 4
  24. Locking this thread now - new one online here: http://forum.netweather.tv/topic/79434-model-output-discussion-13th-feb-onwards/
