just posted this in the model madness thread
A question... why oh why are there so many post concerning things past 3-5 days that there may be a colder period of weather ?? After so many years here now I still cannot understand how the slide rule of FI goes from 5 days to 10 and yet no one ever, ever really thinks that at day 8-10 the models will materialise into what they are forecasting. I would just like to see a post that says come Thursday the 4th the weather actually matches the models and be it snow/rain/mild/cold/windy/dry/foggy/ or whatever type of weather, the models actually forecasted it. It really is beyond me that people are pinning their hopes on a computer model to predict the weather. Mother nature will do what it does regardless of a computer telling it what it might want to do. My whole point is that lets not get too far ahead of ourselves. day by day trends in the right direction will be the way ahead not week by week

Hoping it stays that way for a while longer. Heating not been above 18c for all of December which has kept the winter bill down a bit

Another film would be groundhog day, but the UK version... relentless wind and rain.
The land of make believe...wow! You dug deep for that one. *loads spotify to reminisce *
Well they are always on about fantasy island in the thread

I popped into the model thread last night. I think I can sum up that area in songs and films -
The day after tomorrow.
Tomorrow never dies
That'll be the day
Dreams (Fleetwood Mac)
The land of make believe (Bucks F) etc, etc.

Mind you, out in Cyprus, where you would think it's lovely and warm, was very snowy and cold up at Mount Troodos when i was there too.
Why do I always get the postings to cold places??

Hi Robert. Sorry, it's been a busy time and tbh I ended up forgetting. I'm in Germany atm but will sort it next week when I get back.
last time i did a job out there when with the armed forces it was a 'proper' winter

The only good thing about been at work today was my regular 100+ minutes commute was down to less then an hour. The walk across Westminster Bridge was a bit windy and damp but at least it's mild and the biggest thing about the huge disappointment of nearly a third of winter nearly passed with no decent cold spells is the heating has not had a battering

So, while looking for clouds, you might catch a glimpse of someone special tonight

When do the 'little darlings' pack up from school for xmas? Hoping for a quiet commute to work and home tomorrow without loud kids, loud phones, loud parents telling their loud kids off.....

After all is said and done with Xmas weather in other topic threads, it's still not that mild relatively. The strong winds are chilly if you are out and about, pretty grey too. Not sure what the 25th will turn out to be but as i have said previously, most folk are indoors for a good part of the day; so what does it matter what it's like outside
plus, as said above, the less heating needed is a bonus for the hard stretched households suffering cost of living expenses. Full house, cooking been done, a few drinkypoos who needs whatever the weather is doing?
I will be cooking for 6 adults this year.... love it! it keeps me in the kitchen away from everyone

Going to be a short day today ...... 7h 49m daylight for London

finally, the penny drops in the MOD thread that it isn't going to snow over Christmas
Took more than a penny. I reckon in this day and age about a quid... a penny is way too subtle to take the hint

Clearing West - East now. give it an hour and it should be drier.
I did have a walk in the heavier rain earlier, only because i don't mind walking in the rain. however i do not like Pina Colada's

Just got home from church, lovely photo of a snowy St Mary’s on the cover of the carol service booklet - sadly the reality wasn’t the same - time to catch up with countryfile now and some Welsh rarebit
So are people still watching every run flip and flop from the previous one talk about blow hot blow cold
was a good episode tonight, won't spoil it for you. weather for the week ahead interesting ......
