  1. If it holds - IF it holds - we could actually get more these evening than we had this morning. But not expecting more than a dusting. Still, if we get a good frost afterwards good be nice for photos tomorrow
  2. 1cm is not a dusting! And down here 5cm is nirvana
  3. 3cm would be more than my wildest dreams! Especially if it lasted more than 3 hours on the ground. But these days that seems as likely as 100 golden unicorns being born in my garden every night. (Okay, not quite fair. the golden unicorns are much more likely)
  4. Most of the ~1cm snow we got down here in Evesham has melted now. Still, that's the most we've had since 2018's infamous "Beast"! And still a chance of another dusting tonight
  5. Still snowing in Evesham, even though the radar shows the band has completely passed over us and we should now be "dry". Interestingly, at times, when under the brightest echoes, earlier this morning, there was almost nothing falling .... Almost as if the radar is out of synch
  6. Well I never expected much down here. So, after some very heavy rain, the temp fell and I was surprised to see that within minutes it had turned to ......... colder rain. Then it eased off for a bit. But now we have even colder* rain * but not by much
  7. Defintely not a bog-standard winter down here. We had a max of just 2c today and it was down to -0.4c by 5pm (currently -1.2c) - this does NOT normally happen here under permacloud with no snow or even a frost! It's been disappointing in terms of snow and hard frosts (although the latter have been more common than most recent years) and the lack of sun has been notable, but temperature-wise, this is proving a very cold month.
  8. The models are looking good for some if not all of the Midlands - even down to here. But I wouldn't count on anything. Expect rain. Be prepared to be surprised. Don't be disappointed if you are not
  9. A very slight, very patchy, dusting in Evesham this morning - not expecting any more
  10. Temperature rapidly rising as the cold front moves in. Think that's our cold spell over I remember back in the days when a cold front meant it got colder and increased the chance of snow
  11. The first lot is expected down here by around midnight - so I would say leave your car on the main road, to be sure.
  12. Even Evesham has 15 hours of continuous "light snow" tomorrow Albeit with never more than a 50% chance of precipitation. So more likely a bit of patchy snow on and off through the day. But best I have seen for a few years .....
  13. Was still -2c at midday when this was taken - now up to -1.7c though. If we can keep below freezing till the front arrives, we have a chance, but expecting a gradual increase in temps as it appoaches
  14. Lucky you - it's a rather mild -2.3c in the fog down here at 11am Time for my daily exercise, I think!
  15. I wonder whether those years also saw SSW? Just a thought. La Nina may in itself suggest a milder second half of winter in the UK, but there are always other factors at play. In meteorology, you never get 4 from 2+2. The equations are much, much more complex. And, whilst sometimes the result is the same, just one factor being out by 1 can produce something altogether different.
  16. Just had a little mix of sleet and graupel in Evesham (first time I have seen the latter this winter)
  17. Finally caught a decent snow shower in Evesham; covering thr ground .... Whether it is still around in the morning is another matter! But nice to see
  18. All they are doing is providing a visualisation of the latest model run. And if the latest run shows the precipitation 20 miles further west, or arriving 30 later, than the previous one, that can make a big difference to what its shows for you. Apps are not forecasts (despite being sold as such) - but they can be used as forecasting tools when you do not have access to other data. And for general amusement (especially when they still show 3 hours of heavy snow this afternoon in Evesham, despite the continuing absence of any lamp-post eating pink giraffes at all, let alone ones inclined to buy Wetherspoons)
  19. The BBC looks a lot more realistic to me - just sleet here this afternoon, but with snow this evening.
  20. The MetO has me down for 3 hours of heavy snow from midday today - this is actually as likely as 98 pink giraffes rampaging down the High St and eating all the lamposts for dinner, before collectively buying Wetherspoons for 3p and turning it into a butcher's shop. Temp currently 2.6c with a DP of 0.8c - yeaterday we only got rain when both were at 0c ..... So an hour of light rain it is then.
  21. Snowing in Evesham again, but mostly melting on contact with the wet ground.
  22. It's finally turned to snow in Evesham - how long for and whether anything settles on the sodden ground is another matter ...
