  1. and what about the other 31 years? i can't understand how as a mildie you think you have it worse than us coldies i used to love hot weather and i can remember many more hot sunny days in june than cold snowy days in december
  2. an average summer is far better than an average winter mushy, i bet i won't have seen three ice days by the 19th of jan next year, December is normally still an autumn month anyway
  3. we've actually only lost about 15 mins of daylight in the evenings so far the process speeds up in august, people i know haven't noticed any difference yet but i guess they don't study sunrise and sunset times like we do
  4. have you thought about living in an underground home? you are lucky you didn't see 30c today like i did, it was awful out there
  5. it's been stuck on the same dates up till T72 for weeks now, the change from T72 to T96 will look very strange in winter
  6. had to go inside too hot out there now 28c
  7. even 25c is more than hot enough if you go out in the sun, of course if you are indoors out of the sun than you feel fine, i have two part time jobs one of them is delivering magazines and leaflets i won't be walking around for miles doing that at 2pm tomorrow i'll be doing it from 7pm till about 10pm
  8. i used to love heat i could stay in the sun for hours and not need a drink, then suddenly last summer i hated the heat, hated sweating and had low energy levels, im not even old so i have no idea what's wrong with me, also getting into my baking hot car is horrible and i usually have the air con on even if it's only 20c, im more tolerant to cold weather but if im sitting down for too long i get cold
  9. tonight is the first night i've noticed it getting darker earlier
  10. the point is though you must be content with pleasant sunny weather with temps around 20c in summer we see plenty of days like today and yesterday every year in spring and summer, i don't enjoy 3c and cold rain in winter or average temps in winter, it doesn't have to be 30c in summer for you to enjoy, that is just being fussy, it has to be 0c in winter for snow 1c isn't good enough esp here, i know we haven't seen a heatwave yet but whether its 22c or 30c in summer that's still warm enough for most people right now its 20c and people are having BBQs, if its 1c and snowing in winter that's not good enough as it won't settle, of course if its 1c and sunny i'll be happy with that so even though 30c in summer and ice days in winter are both rare in this country you are more likely to pleased that me, i've seen far more hot sunny days than snow days in my life, i use the term "snow days" loosely as it's more like snow hours it never snows all day anyway i suppose all this should be moved to another thread
  11. the leaves are usually still green in september, flowers are still out and crops are harvesting, the only difference is it gets dark a couple of hours earlier than in june and july, i don't like snow in march because it usually melts, i couldn't careless that the daffs are out, the trees are blossoming and the days are longer, if snow stuck around for a few days i'd be happy, you can't have it all you have it a lot better than those people that prefer winter, i haven't seen a flake of snow since jan 2013, imagine if you didn't see a pleasant sunny day for 18 months?
  12. well seeing as you are moaning about the lack of hot weather in derby i could moan about the lack of snow in bedford only 2009 and 2010 were snowy and cold here, well i say cold and snowy but i had two or three days where it actually snowed, it was just cold and dry for a couple of weeks really, its like you seeing only two hot days with wall to wall sun and two weeks of hot humid cloudy days would you be happy with that? im not interested in snow in march as it usually melts and is pointless, i got nothing in march 2013, hot weather in september is not much different from hot weather in july, you can still sunbathe, have BBQs and go out and about in september, you can't bring wildlife, flowers and crops into the debate
  13. hot weather is good when you go on holiday and you have the sea and pool 10 yards away from you, hot weather when you are at home or at work is awful, its not that hot today really though
  14. of course winter lovers wouldn't be content, average temps in winter are about 6-8c, even 1c isn't good enough for snow really, ideally for sustained snow it needs to be 0c or below, who cares' if it's 23c instead of 30c in summer that's still warm enough, we still have about 2 months left to see a heatwave, if it was jan 12th now we'd have about five weeks left to see a brutal cold spell esp the south, and before you say it gets dark earlier in September you've still got all bloody day to see sunshine and heat, evenings aren't mean't to be 25-30c, i don't complain that it's never -5c during the day in december as that temp usually only happens at night, i'd be happy with -1-2c even if the rest of summer was a total washout it wouldn't even come close to the dire winter of 2013/14 from a coldies point of view as we've already had some warm sunny days, i hardly saw a ground frost last winter
  15. i'd say i wear a t shirt on most days from mid march till mid october, i wear a hat, gloves and a heavy coat on some days between dec and feb, the public's perception of it always being cool/cold in this country is altered by the fact they are working during the day and don't realise the middle of the day in months such as march, april and october can feel very pleasant when temps reach say 16c, of course evenings at that time of year are going to be cooler/colder and it's not ideal to go out that's just the way it is, its like me moaning in winter that -10 only happens in the middle of the night when im asleep, i don't expect it to be -10 at 12pm
  16. i've noticed it cos i look at the sunrise and sunset times a lot, i wouldn't expect anyone who isn't a weather fan to notice the loss of a few measly minutes of daylight so far, i wouldn't get too excited lazerguy summer hasn't even reached its peak yet, in fact i'd say autumn doesn't really start till october down here, and its not really till september that the days are a lot shorter, joe public complain by thinking winter goes on for ages and ages, when in reality it is far shorter than the mild, warm season
  17. went to bed really late last night and found it hard to sleep this morning as it was too muggy and too light, i don't know how laserguy can sleep in the day with all this light and stuffiness, still about 2 months to go until the days are not ridiculously long like they are now,
  18. the difference is even the shortest days of the year are still about as long as a working day 8-4 but nobody says the working day is too short, plus you are asleep at night when its dark so you only really see a few hours a day of darkness in winter, in summer if you get up at 7am you will see about 15 hours of daylight a day is that not enough? even if you get up at lunchtime you will see still about 10 hours of light a day in june and july, we've already had some nice warm days this summer mildies really don't know how lucky they are, how many snow and ice days will i see in winter, 1 maybe 2 if im lucky, average temps in summer in any sun feels pleasant, in winter 7c and cloudy doesn't quiet cut it for me, preferably we need 0c in winter for snow we don't need 30c in summer, maybe 25c+ if you want to get in your swimming pool, how many people have one?
  19. blimey it's busier in here now than it was last winter and summer hasn't even started yet, anyway at least we still see pleasant warm days in spring and summer, most places didn't even have a flake of sleet last winter or a cold winter's day, wasn't it obvious all this northern blocking would turn up now? maybe mildies should hope for a cold blocked winter then in summer we might get bartletts and spainsh plumes instead of wanting them in winter when its pointless, i don't like hot weather any more but im hoping we don't have northern blocking all summer then come autumn and winter we get another raging PV again, i do believe in the law of averages
  20. maybe so but i can't share your optimism summer hasn't even started yet and the worst is still to come, roll on late october as that is when it is dark enough and cool enough
  21. problem is i like growing veg and we need good weather for veg,
  22. totally gone off warm/hot weather these past couple of years, i used to love hot weather but these days i struggle to cope even with temps like today, we have about another 5 months to get through of this sadly, mild/warm weather is seriously underestimated by people in this country, how many days a year do we get cold snowy weather and how many days a year do we get warm/muggy days like today? i am a bit like lazerguy now, although i prefer darkness i don't hate sunshine, i just hate temps above 20c
  23. maybe so but in 5 months time it will probably be warmer than it was today, despite less daylight
