  1. Blimey even in my wildest dreams i never dream't of having 200cm of snow in my back garden, 20cm would be extreme for my backyard
  2. yep time to give up probably even for march as well, but no doubt we will get a grey cloudy chilly easterly in mid/late march, or a northely toppler which will just be a pain in the backside, it looks like a typical nw/se on the ecm tonight whilst people may be glad that may happen as it will be dry and mild in the south those synoptics bore the hell out of me esp for late feb, if it was mid/late march then i would like them, but im not ready for milder weather yet considering it hasn't even been cold this winter, i wouldn't have minded if the rain continued till mid march as i want to see extreme weather, though i do feel for the flooded areas, but it looks like we are going back to bog standard uk synoptics zzzzzzzzz, nothing worse than cloudy mild and dry in winter
  3. it is just too painful to watch the models runs update just for any glimmer of hope that good synoptics show up, i wish this "winter" will just hurry up and die now and put me out of my misery, unless i throw my phone and laptop out of the window then i won't have to put up with this torture anymore, im not an optimist at all really but for some reason i keep checking the models and have faint hope we will see some good runs, or am i being deluded and should give it up? seems like everyone else has
  4. dreadful winter, the mild/warm season ends in october so it is only about 4 months till people start looking for spring and warm weather again, now it is probably at least 10 months till we will realistically see snow, and it will be nearly 2 years for me without snow, unless we get something special in march but im not holding my breath, im sorry but i cannot get excited if we get some milder/drier weather to finish of winter we have the next 7 months for milder/drier weather, if we were to get a bartlett soon and it hung around for 2 months like this zonal pattern has it will still only be april, will people be bored of high pressure and want rain by may? people say there will be no drought this year but i bet if it was really dry in march, april, may and june, people will be concerned with lack of rainfall, things can change very quickly
  5. lucky you, it was just cold, dull and dry here last march, i haven't seen a flake of snow for 13 months now. (plays violins)
  6. has anybody not given up on winter yet? the Mod thread is dead even the lurkers have gone
  7. Hasn't the GFS "owned" the Euros a few times this winter esp ECM?
  8. Dead on here, but if the GFS is showing a half hearted attempt at blocking then there is hope, i have lost complete faith in the ECM, now it's not showing any HLB blocking it will typically be right probably
  9. Dec, Jan, Feb, Nov, Apr, May, July, Sep, June, Aug, Mar, Oct
  10. we still get about 12-14hrs daylight in sep for crying out loud, yes some veg rot but some also harvest at that time of year, we regularly get high teens or low 20s in sep, you have it far better in sep than cold lovers have it in march, we see sunshine and pleasant days in march and sept which is nice enough, we don't see frost or snow in sep, the best we get is a chilly night in sep, how many times do i need to say this lol you don't even like to sunbathe so you don't even miss out on that, you like the shade but you don't like the fact that sep is more pleasant to sit outside at midday as the sun is weaker, sounds very contradictory to me, people i know like September they never say it is a horrible month lots of people look for nicer/warmer weather in march, people don't look for colder weather in september cos it is pointless and rarely happens
  11. some were spoilt i wasn't only dec 2010 was special here, other winters i just had the odd 2-3 inch event, though at least we did actually have proper cold weather and i didn't need to open my windows so often in winter
  12. differences between the summer months and september, you won't get sunburnt in september, you will tan better, the crops are harvesting and it is more pleasant to sit outside at midday? sounds good to me, unless you crave 30c and 20 hours of daylight of course now can you tell me the advantages about the weather in march compared to the winter months from a coldies perspective? i suppose you can see snow fall properly if its falling at 5-6pm
  13. people would even be bored of snow by now if we had it for the past 2 months, will people be fed up of high pressure if we have it for the next 2 months? how would people cope if they lived in Lerwick or Cairo
  14. Good, i hope we get a wintry spell in March many a time we have seen Summer like weather in September, in fact September is still practically summer down here anyway, only difference is it gets dark at about 8pm instead of 10pm, and i have used my BBQ in September more times than i have used my sledge in March as for the hints of Blocking in deep FI like shown on today's 12z it's way too far out to take seriously for me so i won't be getting sucked in like some other people unless it is shown at T168 or less
  15. it don't literally rain constantly though does it, today is yet another sunny day albeit it is very windy, despite synoptics looking ghastly its pretty obvious mildies have it better than colides, this is the uk not northern canada, its like comparing the average joe to a homeless person
  16. i don't have anyone on ignore it's just a weather forum
  17. you don't need it to be above 25c, i don't see milides complaining on a warm sunny april day saying i wish it was 25c or above if it is 18c, yes i agree 25c and above is not common in the UK but you don't really need it to be 30c do you 1c- 3c don't quite cut it for me if it's snowing, it needs to be 0c or below, i can count the amount of ice days and snow days i get on one hand in a year, i would need about 5 hands to count the warm sunny days i get, snow days are probably rarer here than 25c+ days are in scotland, but i don't see the scots complaining if its only 20c and sunny in summer cos that is warm enough despite not being hot june 2012 was bad but did you not get one single pleasent day in june? i wish we had just one snow day this winter or even a day when it was 2c or 3c, this winter has been wet and windy but we have still seen dry sunny days like today, rain is not constant despite people thinking it is you are lucky we see some average/mild sunny days in winter which you are glad to see, we don't get frosts or snow in summer, even in autumn that is rare
  18. im pretty sure you will still welcome a heatwave in late august/ early september, so you will have to lump it if we get a a cold, snowy spell in late feb/ early march, there is plenty of time in the next 7-8 months for warmth and heat as that is guaranteed in this country snow isn't, i dread to think how mildies and joe public will cope if we didn't have one single sunny, warm/hot day in spring and summer, just like we haven't had one single ice day this winter or even a flake of snow for most of us
  19. not that straight forward im afraid, in spain and portugal it is technically winter but they don't expect cold and snow and very rarely have snow on low ground personally i don't mind if this weather carries on if we can't have bitter cold and snow, we get plenty of tedious "nothing" type weather throughout the year where we get cloudy days with a few bright spells or sunny intervals that weather bores me to sleep, but joe public wouldn't care one jot if we had that everyday they completely hate any type of interesting dramatic weather, though that is too be expected i suppose as they have no interest in the weather, i feel for the flood affected areas but i am not affected by floods, if i was then i would beg for dry weather, if that makes me selfish then so are people who want snow plus, it has only being raining here about 3-4 times a week, the other days have been dry with sunny spells or just cloudy and dry, if it rained everyday then i would be fed up of it probably, i want snow now but it don't look like happening so this can carry on for the foreseeable, we have the next 7-8 months for warm sunny weather, im willing to bet if march, april and may are sunny and dry, people will beg for rain come june not cos we will need it, cos they will be bored of dry weather
  20. it's winter, you shouldn't expect mild sunny weather everyday, that would be like coldies complaining in summer that it isn't cold and there is no snow
  21. yes many people want a pattern change now, but this bad weather has actually only been going on for 2 months, imagine this lasted until august or september? we tend to get bored of a weather pattern pretty quickly over here, i wonder how weather fans cope in Spain and Portugal when usually it is hot and sunny for about 6-7 months on the trot and in winter they just get bland mild temps and rarely any snow except on high ground it must be very tedious for them, if it's dry hot and sunny in may and june we will get bored of the heatwave and be begging for rain probably come july, i bet we would even be fed up of snow by now if december and jan were cold and snowy
  22. i understand your frustration but i can't resist looking at the charts and i won't give up hunting for snow till march, all i have to do is turn on my computer and click a few buttons to look at the charts, it's not like going to work or doing the domestic chores even though model watching feels like a chore right now and is annoying seeing the same old crap churn out btw technically this bad weather has only being going on for two months, in two months time it will only be april still two months before summer even starts, will people be fed up by june if april and may are warm, sunny and dry? and we will still have the whole of summer to come
  23. it's got that bad that im not even bothering to look at the NH 500mb charts, it's easier to look at the european charts and see the track of the lows and precipitation
