  1. 8 months is a long wait though, mildies never have to wait 8 months to see warmth and sunshine
  2. i find it a real chore to check the models everyday in spring and summer as i am no longer a fan of hot weather and i don't really care about these seasons, but i feel like i have to check the models purely out of habit, just looking at the bbc 5 dayer won't be any good as that is useless
  3. i don't know why people crave so much light, i understand it keeps the electricity bills down and light is more convenient to do things outside in summer but i wouldn't want it to be light for every waking hour every day of the year, i like it to be dark in the afternoons and evenings in winter, darkness is not horrible or depressing to me, daylight can be too bright and harsh at times and gives me a headache, plus we still get about 7-8 hours of daylight in winter which is about as long as a working day i don't hear anyone say the working day is too short,
  4. talking to yourself is the first sign of madness gavin
  5. the garden season is from march till november and i'd generally say the non cold and not very dark season is from march till november too, joe public and mildies don't realize how lucky they are
  6. i doubt it, most people go to bed early in this country anyway, so im baffled why they want it to get dark at 11pm in summer when the days are more than long enough already anyway
  7. my heart bleeds for the mildies who have had to wait since last october to see a warm sunny day, i've not seen a flake of snow for 14 months
  8. bit early for that ain't it there is a good 6 months still to come for chances of warm sunny weather, so if march is not good then there is plenty of time for good weather and it would be a bit silly moaning in march if there is no mild/warm weather, coldies are told not to moan in december if there is no snow because there is still time, but we only have a 3 month window for snow
  9. you are the top poster on here by a clear distance, im in third place so i do moan a bit i suppose
  10. charts are about as interesting as the antiques roadshow atm, high pressure hooray!! we have the next 6 months for bloomin high pressure, im not looking for it now, maybe its time to move on from chasing snowy charts and throw the towel in, but i hope we don't get some annoying arctic blast in april just when im ready for spring and want warmer weather, it's 9 months till winter starts again my misses could get pregnant and have the baby before i next see snow again probably
  11. high pressure may seem like a novelty now but do people want the next 6-7 months to be dominated by high pressure? people soon got bored of the wet weather after a few weeks, and i predict come april or may people want want some rain or showers, it will feel like a life time till next winter, i am not ready for warmth yet
  12. that's only 3 months, i've been waiting for 14 months to see snow, and i may have to wait another 9-10 months now, mildies don't realize how lucky they have it, im not a complete coldie but i would just rather have warm weather form april till september, or i would prefer to have a cold first half to march and warm second half rather than the other way round which might happen, by mid/late march it might be too late for proper snow if the synoptics aren't very good, a shame to waste early march with high pressure over us when we have many months for it, it will be annoying if april is chilly but not cold enough for snow
  13. i can't get excited about a spell of high pressure in early march when we have the next 6-7 months for warm weather, i bet people will get bored of high pressure if it lasts for a few weeks and by then it will still only be april, just because the calendar has turned to march today don't mean im ready for warmer weather, plenty of time for that, as it goes though the GFS 12z looks more unsettled for later on next week
  14. yeah we only get about 16-18hrs of daylight in summer that ain't enough is it
  15. typical isn't it, and this year they will have a scorching hot summer whilst it will probably be dull and cool here, i don't like heat but i want warmth and sun
  16. let's be honest is anyone really bothered that the ECM hasn't come out yet, the charts will just be showing mundane synoptics anyway
  17. putting the clocks on BST +1 and working from 7am to 3am? no thanks i don't fancy going to to bed before 10pm in summer when it is still light and maybe to hot to sleep, plus i would say very late sunsets would be from late may to late july so that is 2 months, i could argue it only gets dark at 4pm for 2 months of the year but people complain about that i suppose you would be able to sunbathe if work finished at 3pm though, but if you don't care about sunbathing then there is nothing wrong with finishing work at 5pm you still have 5 hours of daylight to go and do things anyway, i doubt we will see many people out on the streets at 10-11pm even if we were on BST+1 people are all tucked up inside and getting ready for bed anyway even if it did get dark at 11pm, people go to bed earlier in this country than in spain cos the weather is usually crap so it may as well be dark at 10pm, time is too engrained in our minds as you say
  18. well that's it so after all this false hope and model watching almost everyday this winter we get no reward for it, well i guess you win some and lose some, in my case it's win very few and lose many
  19. even that isn't guaranteed something could stop the cold uppers getting to us and they might get stuck in scandi or the cold uppers go into france, anyway that is like T400 we are talking about, it would be amazing if we did get -10 -15 uppers in mid march though just like last year, only this time i would actually hope to see some snow and not just cold wind
  20. what a kick in the goolies 18z has northern blocking galore but no cold air to tap into
  21. BST+1 is a no from me we get plenty of daylight as it is in summer there is no need for it to get dark at 11pm, plus it will be even worse if it is a hot day as well as the heat would last longer into the evening and would be harder to get to sleep, heat is part of the reason i presume african countries don't put their clocks forward by a couple of hours when they easily could as for the GMT BST debate it is fine as it is for me, people have coped all these years why need to change it now, are we getting too fussy these days?
  22. what a lame end to winter, charts are more boring to look at than watching the indoor bowls, it feels really mild here and blossom has already come out, i bet we get a northerly toppler in late march, its unlikely this pattern will continue all the way through spring and i will be amazed if we don't have any cold snaps in spring then we get a mild dry winter next winter, god help us
  23. not sure, even in northern scotland sunrise is at about 7:30am in early march which would be 8:30am BST time, i wouldn't mind if the clocks went to BST in early march, but i hope GMT is not scrapped altogether as feb would feel like a spring month as it would be getting dark at nearly 7pm now if we were on BST time
  24. and only about 8 months till it is getting dark at about 6pm again
