  1. spring, usually too warm for snow and the fact it's at least 9 months till i have a have a chance of seeing snow again, i hate heat but at least i get a tan in summer
  2. you shouldn't be surprised that people on a weather forum like snow, cold, rain, darkness etc, i can understand people that don't like cold, but why do mildies hate snow unless it causes them inconvenience? snow is rare and nice to look at isn't it, i hate hot humid weather but i actually like wall to wall sunshine if its cool or cold as that is rare and its nice to look at, i don't like those bland, average cloudy days with sunny intervals, people always think cloudy means dull but it can actually be quite bright whilst it's cloudy and i hate that kind of light, mainly cloudy with bright or sunny intervals is probably the most common weather condition and it is tedious to the extreme anyway off topic i know, but how can i respond to this post on the correct thread?
  3. i think February is a summer month who agrees with me?
  4. im going to have a nice healthy BBQ this weekend and spend more time in beer gardens
  5. matty you've only been on this site a year and last winter was a mild winter, so you were happy, if this winter is a cold one you might end up coming on here moaning, it's easy for you say you won't right now anyway im sure some of joe public have noticed the evenings are drawing in a bit now its getting dark here at about 9:30 now instead of 10pm
  6. i have tomatoes, beans, lettuce etc still going strong in late September, in fact its colder at night in may than it is in september, you need to stop worrying about little signs of autumn you notice at 6:30am and just enjoy this summer, should i panic if i see daffs in late January? we might get a blizzard in feb, but we get more spring like weather in feb than autumn like weather in august anyway, and march is defo a spring month, september is still summer like the only cold, dull dark months are nov to feb really, it can be 15-20c anytime from march to october, how often is it say 5-10c in September and october?
  7. we are right in the peak of summer autumn is still a good few weeks away, this is like when people say a 29- 30 year old footballer is past his best or he is a bit old, too many people think about the future and not the present, autumn to me is 10-15c and rain on a consistent basis, the leaves on the trees going yellow and that won't happen in september, it will probably be 17-22c most days in september like it always is, that to me is not autumnal, yes it will get dark earlier in september but it gets dark at 7pm in cairo in summer, for me september is not really an autumn month esp here, in scotland it's an autumn month for sure
  8. how warm do you expect it to be at 6:30 in the morning? today is yet another very warm day here i'd say i've had about 20 proper summer days this summer, hopefully we have 20 proper winter days in winter but even if we did it will actually only snow on about 2 or 3 days out of those 20, snow is no where near as common as sun or rain
  9. when it's sep the 28th that's when autumn sort of begins properly esp in the south, it's july the 28th for crying out loud people think about the next season way to early
  10. lol we will probably end up having another heatwave that week now you cancelled your trip
  11. darkness is underrated, you wouldn't watch at scary film at 10am in bright sunshine would you, when you go to the cinema you watch the film in the dark
  12. people seem think they can deal with cold weather better than they can with hot weather, i bet come winter it will be the other way round, personally i hate heat, but i don't enjoy cold weather either, i want cold weather in winter cos without cold we can't get snow, if it could snow at 12c that would be perfect
  13. some people i know hate being in the sun anyway but then they moan when its dull and cool
  14. true, but people are mostly indoors at 11pm anyway and an extra hour of heat on a hot day in the evenings would be annoying for people like me who hate heat
  15. sometimes i don't get up till 10-11am depending on my working hours and in mid winter it is light at that time anyway even if we stayed on BST, on the days i have to get up at 7:30am 8am it's a bit dark but i don't say i can't believe it still dark at this time because 8am is still early in the day, its not like it gets light at 11am and dark at 3pm god knows how people would cope, personally i wouldn't mind that for a couple of months a year
  16. they are "too short" only cos people have to work all day, if you are retired or unemployed 7-8 hours of light a day is more than enough in winter to do whatever you have to do, my granddad goes to his allotment from about 10am till 1pm whether its summer or winter, i tell him to go in the evenings in the summer to avoid the heat when it's a bit cooler as it is still light but he doesn't want to go in the evenings, so there's no point him moaning about the dark evenings in winter because it's not like he goes out at that time of day anyway, a lot of people are early birds and go out in the mornings or early afternoons and it is daylight at that time in winter anyway, i think people want daylight more for psychological reasons than practical reasons, though i agree darkness during rush hour is not good in winter
  17. it is too early to talk about autumn even though i hate summer, september is not an autumn month in my eyes autumn starts in october so still a good 10 weeks till autumn kicks in, just cos it gets dark a bit earlier in september don't make it feel like autumn to me unless its 12c and raining which is rare in September here
  18. there is, go on holiday to Lerwick it's lovely there at this time of the year, Autumn is a long long way off
  19. just had another shower after getting back home all hot and sweaty, even at 7pm the car was like an oven, its a myth when people think 1pm is much hotter than evenings, autumn and winter feel as far away as ever
  20. what about if we put the clocks 4 hours forward in october so in winter it will get light at about lunchtime and dark at 8-9pm, then in the evenings you could sit in the beer garden, have time to cut the grass and go for walks
  21. i'd rather wake up in daylight than darkness, i like it getting dark at 4pm so i hope we go back to GMT in October
  22. still a long way off yet, in about 4 months time the days will be "horridly short", we would still get a full working day worth of daylight in December anyway if we kept the time on BST in winter, if you aren't working you'd have all day to do things in daylight, short days only exist in northern europe
  23. 30c is about 8-9 degrees above average for derby i think, have you not seen 27c 28c or 29c in recent summers then? who cares whether its 27c 28c or 30c it's still hot, i wish to see daily maxes of -2c -3c in winter which is about 8-9 degrees below average, but on the RARE occasions it snows it always seems to be about 0.5c and the snow slowly melts, as i've said before it has to be 0c or below in winter you don't need to see 30c in summer, are you really going to complain if you see 28c this week and not 30c?
  24. even though september is technically an autumn month i still think of it as a summer month here, yes the evenings are a bit darker but the days are still warm, plants are still flowering, crops are harvesting and the leaves on the trees are still green, i'd say summer is a 4 month season from june to the end of september, autumn starts in october and winter is only 2 month season jan and feb
  25. although i detest hot humid weather it was nice sitting in the garden just now, much better than being inside my hot stuffy house
