Looking much better from midweek ,avoided the hell and misery of another visit to London this week so a very happy chap,12c drop, lovely today, perfect couldn't ask for more. Long may it continue and fingers crossed it's the last we see this summer!
Indeed - cooler conditions on the way, which look set to linger! Lovely stuff!

I seem to remember you being the harbinger of doom during the July 2013 heatwave.
I merely highlight what the models show... good to see you're still living in that hot bubble; let's hope it doesn't burst.

Knocker referenced that chart a bit earlier. People call me and others miserable because we can't tolerate the heat as well as they can. I will happily take temps around 21/22c over rain any day week. You can't say thats unpleasant. People only seem happy with extremes.
Glad he did; you can usually rely on him to keep it real and moderated.

Ice Man, you should keep an eye on the ECM ensembles.... showing much cooler conditions for the UK into days 5-15; Youll see no mention of that on the mod thread, as it's unhelpful.... and certainly, the last update of the ecm monthly showed a cooler July, too. Next update is later this evening... will be interesting to see if the signal intensifies or wanes.
temp anomaly, 850; days 6-10... with a more pronounced negative anomaly into days 10-15.

"Britain to face lack of heat this summer due to North Atlantic weather phenomenon"
Well this is looking like a load of ol' tosh now!

Maybe some like to see records tumble too without thinking of extreme heat. I would like to see the 40c breached in the Uk but if I actually experienced it I might soon lose the glamour of it
Id settle for one day of 40C, if the rest of summer can be 'average'

Just for balance - I love summer! Sat outside under a parasol with a tall glass of water. It's very comfortable in the shade. This weather is for relaxing in and the only ones I sympathise with are those who don't have a choice but to work in full sun.
I dont dislike summer - but a balance between warm, mixed and cooler is part of the classic British summer - or so, that's what I remembered. Now, we tend to get a repressive heat... muggy! You can be a weather enthusiast without wanting records to tumble - heat records, droughts....
Summer should be enjoyed, but the mod thread isn't what I would call people enjoying... it's this need for it to be HOT, not warm. A craving almost "we deserve". Like I said, what a bunch!

Shows how damn bias this site is; the number of posts of mine that have been removed from the output threads for falling out of context, yet there's not much moaning from you sunworshippers is there? Goinf to remove their posts, mods?
2Think of the poor folk in Spain, who are coping with incessant & vile temperatures of 40C....and seemingly, it will stay that way for the next week or so. The majority in MOD thread crave sun and heatwaves for the duration of summer - with no care for anyone but themselves. What a bunch.

Have to say that those of a summery disposition in the se of the uk should be smiling and even the nw of the country can look forward to a decent period post next weekend - the euro heights asserting themselves against the Atlantic troughing as the runs tick down.
The ens have been rather erratic of late (post day 8 ) - bit early to call. And anything, post day 7 is subject to change.... if showing the same come Thursday, then sure.

Summer isn't really until mid July through to early 0ct, anything before mid July is a bonus, C'mon Frosty, this isn't you
Good grief, what utter nonsense.
As for the models, unsettled for the foreseeable, more so for NW - with the best of conditions in the S and SE!

Ian, appreciate your candour, but hiccups are to be expected in this game. No one will shoot you down based on one forecast - as ever, I wait with great interest for your summer update and whether this dry period is to be extended well into the next 3 or so months.

Ehm, this is more like winter proper than most of winter proper has been the last couple of years.
Sitting outside on the east coast of N. Ireland ATM, where I can't see a cloud in the sky and the temperature is 20C. Tomorrow more of the same, followed by the same on Wednesday. So, far from winter here. Practically high summer for these parts.

Ian, as always, thank you for your insights and general forecast. May I ask, as for back end of this month and seemingly start of next month... what seems to have upset your projections in terms of rainfall, esp for the North of the country.

Well, I've just been having a quick look at how the CFS see's Spring 2017 panning out...
March does look like it could be a month of many weathers.
April looks fairly high pressure doninated.
And by the time we get to May, the high pressure seems to have slipped further south, although still covering the southern half of the UK.
So based upon this, I'd say that with the exception of March, we could be looking at quite a dry and warmish spring!!
But will it pan out like this? ... Time will telland here is the latest update for April... may as well ask Mystic Meg -

True... worth noting, the EC Control sends the UK into freezer into days 10-15; ens mean also promoting a cold signal beyond day 10.

Thankfully looks like a rest bite from the humidity over night, fresher conditions on the way, very welcome i know by many who have had to suffer the weather this last week. Summer should be enjoyed but this week has been far from that. Don't get me wrong i love a summers day, nice breeze, low humidity bout 25c,whats not to like, this week has been nothing like that. Very tough work wise and all my clients moaning about it,not one said they where enjoying it. I think that say's a lot.
Say it quietly, very quietly...
*arctic plunge next week*

Thick cloud most of the day, however a sunny spell between 2 and 3pm raised the temp to 18C whereas the rest of the day had only been around 15/16C
The heating has now clicked on as it's down to 14C outside. Forecast is for single figures overnight - best go and close up the greenhouse.
fear not. folks over in MOD thread projecting summer will arrive.... (maybe)
