  1. I am also enjoying and looking forward to the heat, albeit slightly worrying that these extremes are getting more extreme which does not bode well for the future. However I will continue as planned and Monday I will be going on a long cross country bike ride, I obviously will take plenty of water and not go full throttle lol. Must be out and enjoying that sun.
  2. A loud rumble of thunder just as I got out of the car at home. Very typical summer thunderyness out today. Very stormy looking.
  3. Seems to be a massive struggle to position any of todays possible action, a lot of light showers/rain appearing in a lot of areas though most of it probably not making it to the ground. It was lovely here this morning, then became grey muggy with a slight area of showery rain, then It became very warm again with the sun poking through. I thought there may of been some action already seen today going on the recent forecasts of say last night, but it appears the time frames are pushing back slowly. There seems to be some showers pepping up around Dorset heading towards south Wales, this is not an area that was expected to see much action which shows anything can happen. I would say that any area in the south east and London holding onto more of the sunshine would end up being a breeding ground for storms to head North through the midlands, but it seems a difficult one today.
  4. Currently at work in Grantham at the moment, and it's very dry with not much sign of rain. Looking on the radar there seems to be a long band of rain appearing across from North Wales across to Lincoln. Which in comparison to the forecast seems a fair bit further north by about 50 plus miles. Very little wind now bar the west to east uppers.
  5. Hard to tell at moment, though the fact its all going to happen with nocturnal cooling creating the storms, the mass of high cloud coming from the south may not effect things for later, at least that's what I've been lead to believe?
  6. He rang me back 5 minutes later after he'd gone around the houses electrics checking, everything looks ok, must of been a very very close hit. It's still going strong and has been for hours, gutting as never a good storm when I go up there especially with their view over the hills to the coast!
  7. Just on the phone to my dad, he lives in Pentrefelin, North Wales, I could hear it lashing on the conservatory and the constant booming, he had to end call as he shouted "We've been hit"!!!!! This is half way between Criccieth and Porthmadog, he said its the most violent storm he's seen there in the 7 years of him and his mrs living there.
  8. Well what a night! I'm glad I stuck to my thoughts of what was going to happen after assesing everything in the early evening. Left my bedroom windows wide open to be sure I'd wake up lol. Had a really good batch of storms before midnight, pretty quickly moving but a decent amount of CG lightning and close by with some very basey and gun shot thunder. Looking at strike displays it was no where near as bad as the south east corner, but considering what the latest forecasts had been saying along with the warning locations, still very good. And the little cherry was waking up for work and seeing flashes of lightning while brushing my teeth thinking "was that really!!" All in all very pleased and still all of summer to get through.
  9. Over Northamptonshire 3 small storms with thunder and lightning just popped up
  10. And here it is, wow some immense cloud to ground lightning!
  11. If things do kick off further west as starting to show, then just maybe more hope for central counties as well.
  12. Studying current live data, forecast models and even what the beeb are saying, I still feel like its knife edge close whether the central and east midlands will see anything. And at the end of the day I guess initiation can always be 50 miles out in either direction or extended from forecast.
  13. Looks biblical for my location and so many others. Gunna by radar watching from early afternoon, looking at the sky and fingers crossed its not just another failed forecast lol.
  14. Believe this when I see it , I do hope it comes off like that though.
  15. The averages are not my issue, think most know the averages. The problem is the forecasting is terrible our weather has or so it seems become very difficult to forecast, The weather changes so often and right up to the day of what's suppose to happen.
  16. Should of known better, no rain dry all night and certainly no thunder. See what today brings.
  17. Looks like a band of average rain and not electrically charged either lol
  18. A very big storm heading north in Northern France at the moment, high lightning rates. This fills me with positivity, I am off work this week and have been enjoying the lovely weather and will hopefully be storm chasing tonight with a mate if it looks right.
  19. I must say today the suns out, its warm and its making me much more happy.
  20. Lighting activity is currently dying off a bit now. But I'll certainly take that as first night time storm of the year even if it was short lived.
  21. Quite a potent storm going on out back between my location and Bedford, lightning every minute or so.
  22. Omg omg, is that really lightning, at night. This never happens any more, I must be dreaming lmao
  23. Makes you wonder, if the UK is heading for a single seasonal climate of warmish, very wet and lack of sunshine.
