  1. I wouldn't even say it was light snow here ,just the odd flake floating in the breeze every now and then
  2. As was the BBC and Met office .. whereas we were having disruptive snow
  3. I agree , I even opened a bottle of Mulled Wine and had my Everton Christmas Jumper on(I was cold) ...Unfortunately it's back to shorts and tee shirts today and a cold beer
  4. Just seen a flake , i'd better apologise to the Met office for my hasty judgement
  5. Don't let them kid you ,it's not always colder up north,it's just wetter
  6. Apparently it's snowing here, well according to the NW radar it is! It must be so heavy I've gone snow blind
  7. Interesting tweet from Tomasz Schafernaker On the 9th December Brrrrr..... snow day on the way tomorrow. Oooo some of you will have a lotta fun Sunday......not me in the Capital Think he got that wrong as well
  8. Whatever the reasons are whether it's pivot, uncertainty orinability to over-ride computer modelling,I don't believe the METO/BBC handled this well for Northern England and lessons should be learned.Posters on the Mod thread on here raised doubts about the northern extent of the slider before the Meto did. There were even questions asked about whether the 2 big derbies today should go ahead , imagine if they'd called them off yesterday
  9. I agree about the northern edge doubt ,however it was yesterday that they started to retreat southwards,on friday night we were still covered and confidence was high,I think to not accurately forecast beyond 24hrs is not good enough.I'm sure the Meto will come under scrutiny for this and the fact that west London has had snow today ,on Friday they stated that London had no chance of any snow sunday
  10. This is it below How have the @metoffice got it so wrong for NW/N England?,up until friday night we were under an amber warning for disruptive snow,we've got no snow at http://all.How much money does the Meto cost the taxpayer? #Cowboys
  11. I've also asked the Meto this question but so far no response @metoffice ,How have you got the forecast for NW/N England so wrong?, up until Friday night we were under an amber warning for disruptive snow. many people cancelled plans on this advice ,The reality is there is no snow North of Cheshire #bunchofcowboys
  12. Tomasz Schafernaker's response to my tweet that they got it wrong ; do you agree with him? More Replying to @efc5661 @metoffice Hang on a minute, If you watched forecasts there was always a suggestion that the area could drift many miles north or south. A forecast is just forecast not a certainty. Some may have missed it by a few tens of miles. That’s good accuracy for days in advance.
  13. The met office really need a kick up the weeble,I know they started to backtrack yesterday but up until Friday night they were still saying widespread disruption to Northern England, how can they have got it so wrong?
  14. It reached Ashton in Makerfiled which is about 3 miles south of here and then decided to turn back
  15. Here in Wigan , we've had a few snow showers today but nothing spectacular,I was really looking forward to tomorrow's anticipated Snowmageddon, however the BBC/METO have gone from forecasting 12 hours of heavy/light snow to 3 hrs of light snow and even that's not certain . I moved from Birmingham 28 years ago and have seen maybe 3 or 4 snowfalls that I would consider heavy in all that time .Brum is on target for nearly 15 hrs of heavy/light snow tomorrow
  16. 3rd snow shower of the day now in Wigan , still quite light. We have a slight dusting on the footpaths and grass..Really hoping that tomorrow's forecast is upgraded later , we've gone from 12 hrs of heavy snow to 9 of light snow at the moment. It's turned sleety now
  17. No snow here at all today , however the BBC has Snow from 3am sunday up until midnight...can't see it personally but I live in hope http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2633948
