  1. Pretty impressive amount of rain last night again. 10.9mm. Certainly turning out to be a very wet winter. If we can't have it cold and snowy then we might aswell get some benefits from it. Currently 6c and cloudy in SW19.
  2. Dennis?? Really? The tabloids are going to have field day with this one then. Ridiculous.
  3. Im still convinced March will deliver a wintry week or 10 days. Better late than never I suppose. 5c and sunny this morning in SW London. Looking lively again later in the week. At least any threats of hosepipe bans in the summer have well and truly gone now which is something.
  4. Normal windy wet winter day in SW London. Big fuss over not alot. Again.
  5. True that. 94mph in Central London during the 1987 storm. At 2am thankfully. Imagine if it had been 2pm!!!
  6. Yes indeed, Alexa is wonderful in the morning for all sorts. Up to 4c here in SW19 now.
  7. Yes, 70 now but still going strong. One of the best forecasts ever. And very accurate too.
  8. I will always remember that Sunday evening coming home from playing football, and it was blooming freezing!! Everything was very dry and there was a snow shower about 4pm that gave a light dusting everywhere. The air had that 'smell' about it when you just know something special is about to happen. I remember seeing the snowclouds building out to the east and as the evening went on the showers became heavier and more frequent. Ended up with 10 inches snow in Wimbledon. Mind you, got a good amount the following two winters as well though that Feb 09 was a bit special. I think because it had been SO long since we had seen anything decent. Roll on the next one.
  9. I imagine that it will be a very miserable LP dominated summer. Very like 2007 I feel. Followed on from a rubbish winter aswell that year. This ridiculous boring pattern has to change sometime, my hunch it will be April/May onwards.
  10. Got to be one of the most depressing met office further outlooks ever!!!!
  11. Totally agree. The CET has increased by 0.2c in the last 50 years. Nobody ever mentions that. Goes against the narrative I suppose. And as someone said earlier 40c in Ireland, what utter utter nonsense. Interesting to see they still use Heathrow as the temperature record data for London. Wonder why...
  12. Well at least some wet and wild weather coming next week. It will clear away the grey dullness hopefully. Big convective showers too. Weather can be interesting without snow too.
  13. That chart goes out to 2019,it was published last week by the Met Office.
  14. And - 27c in 1995 And - 24c in 2010 Much more recent. Interesting reading the monthly summaries on the Met Office and Met Eireann sites, all the way back to the 50s. Not much has changed. Several long stretches of successive winters, most of the 70s for example l, without any severe cold.
  15. I suppose one advantage of this exceptionally mild weather is no need to have the heating on while working from home this last few days!! Getting very lively outdoors now. More heavy rain incoming.
  16. Another cloudy damp 8c morning in South London. Heavyish rain pushing in from the SW now before the main event later with strong winds. Will be wet and windy throughout the rest of the week. Proper weather. Borefest over, for now. Welcome back Tom!!
  17. Spring 2020 thread has been started I see. In the first week of January. Bonkers.
  18. Plenty of time for cold snowy weather yet. We only ever get a few weeks of it anway, even in 'good' winters in these parts, so lots of time yet.
  19. After a brief dry spell today and again Wednesday, looks like more deluges on the way. 79mm so far this month, should easily break the 100mm mark. Pretty impressive.
  20. I'm sure they will be fine mate, nobody died or was injured. My mate lives down Chertsey, weren't that bad he said.
  21. Great stuff. Who needs boring dry calm weather when we can have this!!
  22. Yes, you are right. Meant to say 13/14. Time flies. Figures for South London that Winter : Nov 55.6mm 99% Dec 91.0 mm 162% Jan 141.5mm 257% Feb 78.9mm 232% We have a way to go to match those.
  23. It's certainly been a bit wet in this region but nothing exceptional. Not as wet as 2015/15 winter, it will drain away. If we get the same deluges in the next 2/3 weeks then yes, we will have problems.
  24. Shsssh. Everyone will want one. Tipping it down again in South London. Very dark too.
