  1. Tell you what,charts/models certainly sniffing on a much more unsettled and wet period coming up. Will be interesting to see the met office outlook. Will be a long while till we see any prolonged sun and heat if the 06z is to be believed. June looking like a right off at this stage.
  2. Talk over on the Mod thread of 45mm of rain for the SE over the next 10 days. Would be great if it happened but can't see it myself. 15-20mm will do for starters. Certainly going to be much much cooler eithet way. Much needed change. Still 22c at 9.15pm.
  3. Exeter are certainly in agreement as their long ranger is going for rain or showers throughout most of June with below average temperatures. Models firming up on that idea now too. Maybe we have already had our summer.
  4. I think the storms in London in August 2004 were the best imo. Several days in a row, bright humid mornings, huge towers going up and then bang in the afternoons. Lots of flooding mind. Everything is just groundhog day nowadays.
  5. Last night's euphoria and hysteria on the mad thread seems to have dissipated somewhat. Dry again this morning despite the light rain forecast.
  6. Forecasting t/storms with any accuracy is akin to their ability to forecast snow in winter, pretty rubbish frankly. And must be the first time a cold front (however weak) goes through and the air behind is warmer. Hmmmm. Strange one that.
  7. I agree with you. But, not bothered now as the longer this tedious dry and sunny weather has gone on the less likely we are goingvto get a long hot sweltering summer. We seem to get the same weather now for several months eg last winter. Nope, hang in there. This will last till early June then the Atlantic swings into gear till mid/ late August. Im going for a 2010 type summet, or perhaps 2012.
  8. Looks pretty accurate to me. A euro high dominated summer. Warm dry spells in south east uk but an unsettled damp summer from midland northwards. The odd 30c day in SE but not many. Not especially wet. Limited thundery activity. Benelux countries again will have most of the action. Early onset of autumn, eapecially northern england and Scotland. The pattern we are in at the moment has to change sometime and as is often the case, just in time for summer.
  9. One or two thundery showers over Norfolk early Thursday afternoon and that will be our lot. Happens every time. Cloudy elsewhere in the SE with patchy light rain. No storms unfortunately.
  10. I think all us allotment folk start our planting a bit too early. Potatoes will survive some frost but it will delay the harvest by a week or two. Got down to 3c on mine last night, air temperature,so i'm sure soil was lower, and thats in south London. Some warmer weather on way so will help things along. Seriously need some heavy rain though. Its extremely dry and none in the forecast, even the extended one. Could be problems in the high summer.
  11. You should never plant seedlings out till end of May mate. I got caught out badly about three years ago. Late May early June for me now.
  12. Yes, at long last some interesting weather on the cards. A bit of everything over the next few days, even a few storms perhaps. Its incredibly dry and dusty, cant do much on the allotment either as you say. Hopefully get some planting done this week. Desperately need the rain in these parts, and hopefully plenty of it.
  13. Definitely need the rain around these parts, if and when it comes. The allotment is like a dust bowl. Hopefully the met extended outlook holds up and we get some decent spells of rain towards the end of the month. 17c and Cloudy just now in the capital.
  14. 20.6c in south London. Warm for digging over the soil for planting next week. Soil really drying out quite rapidly. Could do with some wet weather now for early spring growth, met office outlook shaping up that way which will be useful and good.
  15. Hope not mate. Last thing those of us actually in London need right now is dry warm sunny weather which encourages folk to go out and about and congregate. Could lead to another spike in infections/deaths in a few weeks.
  16. Nice morning at 7c and clear blue sky. Day off work so going to get some work done round the allotment. Spring is here i think.
  17. We need some warm weather now to help get rid of the Coronavirus. It would be so ironic that we get a cold spell just when we dont need one.
  18. On the plus side, there are going to be some amazing travel bargains in the next few weeks as airlines struggle to fill planes. And the popular destinations will be much quieter for a little spring break.
  19. Another huge swathe of rain moving into the area. Looking like a damp few days ahead, though nice and mild tommorow, maybe 16c tomorrow in the capital.
  20. Yes, there would be a few red faces if they has to upgrade the warning to Amber. Minor flooding around here now.
  21. Nope, according to the 10 day forcast from the MET, another 10 days of very wet unsettled weather. Then avain, they said today would be dry so who knows.
  22. They ie MET etc just cant seem to get a handle on systems moving through the channel. Never have been able to. Very strange in this day and age. Just lmagine if the temps ans DPs were 6 degrees lower!
