  1. Yes, agree with all of that, speaking to older folk( and reading the Met Office monthly reports) the weather has changed very little over the last 40 years. People have selective memories.I think when you read the reports for the winter of 1981/82 that folk bang on about, temps were way lower in the feb/march 2018 cold spell. Down here anyway. 1976 was exceptional though. As for this summer, it has been truly awful down here in London. And I'm one that doesn't really mind wind and rain. But this is ridiculous.
  2. I don't think that's Devon/Cornwall really. Storm (if you can call it that) was still way off coast 12 hours ago. Thats a vid of a severe thunderstorm. You can see the lightning. Probably not even UK.
  3. That's very interesting that. Its amazing when folk make the effort to dig out the truth it can be found. I might have a look at the records for London but I concur, Augusts have been atrocious recently and this forthcoming one is looking no better.
  4. Meteociel - Quantité de précipitations (pluie et neige) tombées en 24h en Allemagne WWW.METEOCIEL.FR Observations de la quantité de pluie tombée en 24h en France en temps réel Here are the rainfall totals for that general area over past few days.
  5. 10 Day trend forecast is issued every Weds morning. Already over 24 hours old that one.
  6. Exeter going for a breakdown middle of next week. Nothing exceptional before then. Possibly high 20s. Helen Willets on BBC says the next ''rainmaker'' low arrives towards end of next week. Good agreement. Short settled spell coming upm
  7. Not UK related but I've been looking at the temperatures in Serbia, Albania, Macedonia etc recently. Absolutely bonkers. Nearly 40c every day for over a week now. Why is it if that was in the US /Canada or Aus certain parts of the media would be all over it. Yet, on our doorstep, in the grand scheme, not a word. Hmmm.....
  8. Quite enjoying this cool damp weather to be honest. Plenty of time yet for hot sticky weather in London. Though 17c and drizzle on last day in June is pushing it slightly.
  9. Proper Sunday soaking on way for the south. Probably Saturday too but Sunday looks a proper washout. Quite unusual for this time of the year which in itself is interesting. Little prospect of any improvement till late next week according to BBC /METEO last night.
  10. I wonder, given the hopeless inaccuracy of weather forecasts, are forecasters like those chaps on the model thread? They see what they want to see.
  11. Bring back accurate weather forecasting! MCS indeed. Just some rain. I suggest some of the experts ( drama queens) on here don't give up the day job.
  12. Not in Bridlington it won't. Fool. Anyway, I was being ironic. Now back to your Yorkshire thread!
  13. Yup, totally agree with you about the London bit. I think we got lucky this last few days temperature wise maxes of just 26/27 and thankfully the nights have been pretty cool,so far.
  14. Perfect weather for working the allotment. Took the day off work expecting a bit of drizzle but heavier rain a bonus. Perfect given the recent warm weather and the fact that next week looks mostly dry and sunny.
  15. There's a serious amount of banking going on in the mad thread this morning.
  16. Mid twenties in London in June is hardly a big deal. Quite pleasant. Nothing exceptional. If it were mid 30s I would understand the excitement.
  17. Raining here in SW London despite forecast being for totally dry day. Deary me!
  18. 23c now counts as HOT in the world of the Met Office. Goodness me. Its no wonder th C C brigade are in a panic.
  19. The rain and cloud don't bother me that much. Its the fact that you have to put a jacket on to nip out to the garden for a cheeky smoke in the middle of May in London... now that annoys me! Can't remember anything like it.
