  1. Seriously. Today really is taking the mick in London. 17c and cloudy/breezy. High pressure by ass. Give me sunny spells and heavy showers any day!
  2. Not in the garden no as i have gravelled that. The allotment however is a different story!!! Some of these weeds are nearly 5 ft tall, bonkers, and there's spuds somewhere in amongst all that chaos. Been so wet I never had to water them but the wet just sent the weeds crazy. Great for the bees though. The weeds will die back now that autumn is on the horizon.
  3. 13 so far in SW London. 21 in 2020 22 in 2019 38 in 2018 22 in 2017 2011 will take some beating though with just 8.
  4. Internet age. If you hunt down fires, floods etc you will find them. There's always been fires like this and always will be. It's just that humans have decided to build homes in the middle of high risk areas. Next drama....
  5. I've sometimes wondered what Dudley must look like on a wet day.
  6. Three dryish days next week after a deluge this weekend. Bank Holiday weekend now looking wet.
  7. But it will still end up, after some creative accounting, being in the top 10 warmest Augusts ever. What a racket.
  8. Let us know the next time you put your washing out mate, we'll take ours in. Chucking it down... again.
  9. Anyone remember a worse summer in the South East. I must admit I can't. I suppose 2009 and 2011 were pretty rubbish but I don't think they were as dull as this one. Or windy!
  10. And there it is. The slow painful death of summer 2021. Though some storms to look forward to.
  11. Difficult sometimes to see past the crazy emojis and even crazier memes to make any sense of what's going on on their thread.
  12. Yup, it has been truly woeful. I don't mind the heavy showers so much, its the absolute dullness that's taking the...... Today looks OK, before the next onslaught.
  13. Oh Acton ain't that bad mate. You can see Wembley from there, when the drizzle clears. Not much sun in SW19 these days. Local weather station down road in Morden is reporting July rain at 280% of normal. That's pretty awesome.
  14. Yes, agree with all of that, speaking to older folk( and reading the Met Office monthly reports) the weather has changed very little over the last 40 years. People have selective memories.I think when you read the reports for the winter of 1981/82 that folk bang on about, temps were way lower in the feb/march 2018 cold spell. Down here anyway. 1976 was exceptional though. As for this summer, it has been truly awful down here in London. And I'm one that doesn't really mind wind and rain. But this is ridiculous.
  15. I don't think that's Devon/Cornwall really. Storm (if you can call it that) was still way off coast 12 hours ago. Thats a vid of a severe thunderstorm. You can see the lightning. Probably not even UK.
  16. That's very interesting that. Its amazing when folk make the effort to dig out the truth it can be found. I might have a look at the records for London but I concur, Augusts have been atrocious recently and this forthcoming one is looking no better.
  17. Meteociel - Quantité de précipitations (pluie et neige) tombées en 24h en Allemagne WWW.METEOCIEL.FR Observations de la quantité de pluie tombée en 24h en France en temps réel Here are the rainfall totals for that general area over past few days.
  18. 10 Day trend forecast is issued every Weds morning. Already over 24 hours old that one.
  19. Exeter going for a breakdown middle of next week. Nothing exceptional before then. Possibly high 20s. Helen Willets on BBC says the next ''rainmaker'' low arrives towards end of next week. Good agreement. Short settled spell coming upm
