    Turbine struck by lightning as storm warning issued WWW.RTE.IE A wind turbine off the coast of Arklow in Co Wicklow has been struck by lightning and is on fire, as several counties in the south and east of the country remain... Looks lively off the Irish coast.

    True that. I think we will get a fair dose of convective rain from midweek but it ll be nowcasting. The days of big frontal storms off the Atlantic seem to be suspended down these parts. But they'll be back. Mother nature will always balance things out in the end.

    Thursday night's rainfall numbers for the south east. More than I thought to be fair.

    We were always lead to believe by the climate change goblins that Atlantic storms would be more ferocious due to a 'warming ocean'. Huge area of low pressure to our west now giving nothing but a bit of damp drizzle. No doubt they'll put some of spin on it to say its as a result of global waaaaming.

    Agree. Given the current synoptics surely we should have some rain by now. Beginning to wonder if we'll ever see rain again. And not a breath of air.

    Quite a bit of thunder here between 5 and 6am. Lightning more so. Plenty of rain since 3am. 20mm so far. Love it. Bye bye summer 2022. You won't be missed.

    Perfect rain here in London to help alleviate drought. 20mm so far from this system and not too torrential either. Fair bit of thunder earlier, lightning very vivid about 6am. Looking forward to eight more months of this. Bye bye summer 2022. You won't be missed.

    Patience mate. It's just around the corner. And you can sense the desperation in the MAD thread. 7/8 months of wind and rain. Glorious. And we can finally put this hideous summer behind us.

    Bank Holiday weekend looking decididly unsettled now. And welcome rain for most. Looks like autumn is just around the corner.

    We really should try not to harm spiders in any way, they are our 'friends' and they get rid off all the other little critters that may do harm. Please don't kill them. Although there's always going to be the odd one that goes down the plug hole accidentally. I always see the increase in number of spiders as the imminent end of summer. Which for me is never a bad thing. Looking forward to the next 7/8 months. For the next week or two it can do what it wants.

    17c now in the capital. Normal summer night.

    Work is continuing at London Heathrow to move their weather station even closer to the southern runway in order to record the highest temperature on Tuesday.

    Met Office going for a fairly standard very warm week here in the capital. Far from exceptional. As expected.

    Strange one here in SW London. Lots of high level lightning, distant thunder and sporadic rain. Not really getting going. At least the heats gone tf.

    Right next to RAF Lakenheath and RAF Mildenhall. They probably just picked that random village as they know the games up. And Norwich has an airport too!!
