Certainly all that glass will have a localised effect on temperature. Like the asphalt runways and buildings at Heathrow ( look it up) Aircraft movements have no effect on temperature as was demonstrated during lockdown. Look that up too.
I tend to use readings from RAF Odiham( your neck of the woods) Kenley and LGW to get current conditions in S England.
LHR and St Jame's Park readings are nonsense imo.
Heathrow weather station has been in the same location since the 50s. Massive expansion around it.
30.2c here now. LHR 10 miles from here. Airports always top the list.
Turned out nice again.
Why don't the met office etc just get a rain app on a phone. Much more accurate. Met Office had it dry all evening here in SW London. Its now absolutely tipping it down. Well that's what a 1.4bn computer does I suppose.
I wouldn't trust Heathrow's temperature readings given the weather station's close proximity to the asphalt runways, the proliferation of buildings etc since they started recording in the 50s.
With the almost incessant HP since the beginning of the year, there is a massive patern shift and a brutally bad summer coming up. Something like 2012 , possibly worse.
