  1. Very foggy here in SW19 . Quite unusual given the radar returns are showing quite active front just to our west. 4c. Last of the chilly morning for a while. Proper autumn weather on way now from the west/south west. Plenty of wind and rain. Mild temperatures too. Should reach 100% rainfall for November after a succession of drier than average months.
  2. Cheers for the summary Tom. Yes, looking like a lengthy spell of mild wet and rather windy weather on the way.The Atlantic was always going to spring in to life at some stage. Metoffice seem to have dropped the idea(for the time being) of a cold December.
  3. Agreed. The Metoffice got it totally wrong for this weekend. Bbc always went for rain staying well to south of London. Shouldn't be THAT difficult to forecast in this day and age.
  4. Perfect winter's day for the allotment. Digging out some weeds with mug of hot tea listening to the footy on the radio. Some rain about too. Looks like the Atlantic kicking into gear from Tuesday for several weeks. Plenty of wind and rain. All the talk of a bitter cold easterly spell of weather gone for a burton. Only November still, plenty of time yet.
  5. Yes, just seen their video forecast. Quite different from the bbc/Meto group one. Met forecasting a bit of a washout. Who will be right I wonder?
  6. Boring cold day in the capital 4.2c. Hope the Atlantic breaks through next week and livens things up. Stuck in no man's land weather is tedious. Hopefully wet and wild from mid next week, but who knows!?
  7. Unless it's a raging Atlantic or a slug High Pressure they really can't get a handle on it. Especially if weather is coming from east or south east.
  8. Most of the rainfall totals are in for stations in and around the capital. Between 4.8 - 5.5 mm of rain fell yesterday. Quite surprising really. Looking like we need a very wet December to make up the shortfall. Currently 74% of annual rainfall. Fairly non-descript outlook from the met office, looks fairly boring either way.
  9. Must be something dripping into your rain guage mate. Here's the figures for LHR.
  10. Probably not that much if it had been snow to be honest. There's been about 3mm of rain in S Londonsince last night which would equate to about 2 inches of snow. Precipitation has been quite moderate so far.
  11. Cooler air already moving in from the south east. Hopefully clearer aswell
  12. Much colder next week with strong easterly winds, especially in the south. Snow, mostly on high ground.
  13. No doubt they ll soon be squabbling on the MAD thread if models aren't showing 2m of snow in the back garden of 27 Acacia Grove at 2.45pm on 2nd December etc. Certainly looking like a cold spell coming up mind. Personally I'm going to stick with Met updates from now on. They really have been very impressive for the last 12/18 months. Nice day today. 14.2c and sunny.
  14. Looking a bit lively over your way earlier for sure.True about the thunder aswell. We always do pretty well in London area during unsettled spells, whatever the season.
  15. Yes indeed, some awesome skyscapes this evening over the capital. Wonderful day for weather watchers. Had everything apart from snow. Proper autumn.... at last long last.
  16. Great day for weather. Torrential rain showers, thunder and lightning and great cloudscapes. Marvelous stuff.
  17. Been pouring down in SW London for last 90 mins. 6.4mm in last 24 hours from these heavy shower bands. Good top up for the soil and rivers. Some brightness moving in now but doesn't look like lasting long.
  18. Torrential rain again here. Very welcome. 18.3mm today. Much needed. More incoming from SW. Not a great night for fireworks. The park now very muddy underfoot. Proper autumn weather at last.
  19. Always good to see old YouTube vids of news coverage of proper exciting weather. Generally pretty boring weather in SE so it's good to see what it was like in the past when there must have been real weather events here.
  20. Goodness is it two years since the tram crash, terrible accident. RIP. Always remember how little coverage it got due to Trump being elected the same night. Bit nippy at 8.8c here. Looking lively later and over the weekend. Good weekend to dig over the allotment methinks. Love being out in the wet and wild weather.
