  1. JMA a bit colder than yesterday -8 uppers now into N England, wasn't there yesterday -8 uppers edging into Norfolk Becomes a bit milder But then becomes colder once more
  2. True and still 5 days to a week before this potential cold snap arrives (if it does), it may get watered down to not much like the last one or maybe more potent, I won't put confidence on it happening until all the main models are on board and that includes JMA - which I think is a good model and better than GFS. As ever it's a waiting game.
  3. Indeed a glancing blow, more like a 2 day cold snap for far north not really proper cold spell. ECM was showing -10 uppers creeping into Northern England. JMA seems much more tame.
  4. JMA says no chance to any cold spell, instead it sends the cold a long way east
  5. GFS 12z ensembles for this area shows a cold spell lasting for a few days, is this was 2008 coldies in here would be pleased with the current output. I think people's expectations goes up each Winter until snow completely buries their house and still even then I bet some wouldn't be happy lol Snow risk http://www.meteociel.fr/cartes_obs/gens_display.php?ext=1&x=256&y=45
  6. The Gibster is like the Met Office, he sits on the fence right until something is almost nailed on that way he doesn't look like a fool, no one would take him seriously otherwise, I'm sure most in here do have an interest in what he has to say.
  7. My flat is the same even after cavity wall insulation fitted - within 30 mins to an hour of turning the heating off the temperature does a big drop, it's 12c in here right now so for most people that is very uncomfortable but I'm on my own today so I just grin and bear it and wear a couple of jumpers also sweat top over them, at least it's money in my pocket and not the fat cat energy bosses. The other morning I woke up at 4am with a cold head so when that happens I usually just go and put a hat on and that solves the problem or if I've had enough sleep just stay awake.
  8. Haha we've had so many comparisons the past 2 weeks, first it were November 2010 then December 1981 and now Jan/Feb 84
  9. Certainly a trend colder with the 6z Manchester ensembles today compared with yesterday but uncertainty after 1st December with lots of scatter, some very cold runs especially with the control run, but also some mild so nothing nailed on with proper cold. In the meantime for most of us it looks like turning milder for a bit this week.
  10. Here's real Winter weather in the NE of America, temperature of -8c, -18c windchill, -16c dew point http://www.crownofmaine.com/nmain/
  11. I still think we will have a Winter similar to 11-12 with just a short cold spell sometime in Jan-Feb (although I suppose now could be considered cold it's frosty outside but it's not officially Winter) I reckon we'll have a mild Christmas, looks like this coming month will be mostly dominated by high pressure near or over the country. Certainly cannot foresee a December 2010.
  12. This is my dream come true, nice charts, if only we got these high pressure systems as persistent in the Summer but that never seems to happen!
  13. Looks about average for the UK nothing too cold and is that a slight bit of orange across us too on bottom chart?, looking below average across Eastern USA, something that has been cropping up a while now to happen. And starting at the end of the weekend judging by some forecasts.
  14. From a mildie point of view overall I'm quite pleased with the next week or so, sure there will be some frost around in the mornings but with much lighter winds than recently and if we get some unbroken sunshine it won't feel all that cold from late morning. 6z ensembles ---------->
  15. Looking rather snowy in East France. http://modeles.meteociel.fr/modeles/gens/graphe_ens3.php?x=592&ext=1&y=270&run=18&runpara=0
  16. I love it.............................................if it falls elsewhere lol
  17. If you get clearer skies after the snow and the wind drops then it won't melt, temps should drop in that set up.
  18. Yes that would explain why east of the Pennines the snow has stuck, dew points and temps look lower there too on the weather stations.
  19. It's actually just turned to snow around the Milnrow area of Rochdale, not sticking though.
  20. It's turned to snow on the M62 summit in Saddleworth and Calderdale (about 400m asl), was rain up until 10 mins ago.
  21. And yourself - a chart for 1 day on 6th December and I'm a new comer so what you on about?
  22. Well as ever we'll see, the weather in this country is never nailed on even 48 hours out never mind 1-2 months away
  23. It was false because I was showing a Bartlett, which was the reason you replied in the first place.
