Right am clearing my diary of meetings Tuesday .. hmm fat chance.. meeting clearance that is ...

Well it wouldn’t be a winter if one of the media houses didn’t catastrophe another potential non event. These make me chuckle now; it must be British sarcasm . http://huffp.st/7O2gGQM

Surprised the warnings aren’t more extensive given some of the predicated wind speeds from various model output. 50-60mph+ gusts are being suggested further south away from Scotland, could be very nasty as the front moves through.
And during the peak Travel period 7 to 10am

So a feisty spell of wind/rain tomorrow morning as Georgina throws her toys out the pram at us, could prove interesting for a while as the front crosses the area..
Oh no not more rain!!

Driving on the motorway this lunchtime, conditions and visibility very poor, and I couldn’t get over how may drove without lights on. The majority did to be fair, but why not put lights on? Very odd.
-
Ps anyone notice the wind has picked up a bit? I’ll check the radar, could be front? Home today in Chichester and it did just pour all day with rain

Holy schmoley not looking good up there.
There’s a few serious warning in there too, and all that is before the rain has time to filter off the land, hills, etc into the watercourses. Not looking good.

Just to add for the snow falling here it is quite wet and verging on sleet.
-
Er it appears to be snowing.....

Wow I wonder how far away that CB was from your location!?
Erm, Ian mentioned on Points West a small risk of snow on Saturday as a front skirts along the South (rain most likely though ) . Until earlier today those fronts were expected to be over France.
Could we get an unexpected surprise rather than be frustrated at a long forecast event not happening?
Yep good observation.. I didn’t check the radar at that time. It was Caversham looking north east, so Henley direction.. but they were massive abc photo doesn’t do it justice. Probably some distance away I bet.
Oo Saturday indeed I wonder .. I like surprises!

One effect of the winds is TVP has alerted us around Newbury to an escaped Wolf and it already has been spotted some 10 miles away... rural area of Berkshire... hmm - wont be long am sure before it gets a wee bit hungry? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-berkshire-42730984
Hope though they catch it and don't have to kill it to catch it.
They've caught it! YAY!

Just said the same thing. Just listening to the roar of the sustained winds was on a par with Feb 2014. Unfortunately I didn't tie my bin lid down and have had to rescue some of my rubbish from the street. Pressure dropped a lot lower than anticipated as the low crossed and deepened. Sustained winds here 35 mph+ gusts in high 50/ low 60s. Top gust 66mph. And I'm as far inland as you can get!
Yep - my local station recorded up to 58mph at yes 3.30 so that'll be the one that woke me up! apparently though 3 jan 2018 had the highest gust of 59mph! So you've beaten us on the gust front but that is definitely high for inland. Very tired and grumpy now!

Well that was windy last night.. around 330am it was properly going for it. A westerly also so I shouldn’t really hear much where the house is located. But I did last night on the same level as feb 2014 - so suspecting they were pretty high gusts? . I did manage to fasten down the bins before hand ... I seem to always have to do next doors also as the carers for the old lady do nothing but overflow them, ( never putting them out for collection) and the contents are constantly spilling all over my garden, so I am not so sure what I will be greeted with when I get outside this morning - I think one went for a good spin over night Still a fair few gusts kicking in....
