As my work colleague has just remarked, they are waiting for the "Pest from the West".. rather than the Beast from the East....

Hi all. Heading up to London this morning by train from Winchester. Any advice on the latest details and whether I should return eg say lunchtime rather than later afternoon say 4-5pm?
Thanks in advance.
Think you may find trains are delayed and cancelled coming back?

I've discovered 510 horses through the rear wheels makes for a rather hairy journey to work in these conditions
Think I may bottle it and take the work van home back to Weymouth once we abandon ship here (hopefully) later on today!
BMW per chance? yep mine too rear wheel drive - a waft of snow and we are sliding every where..

Really crap forecast tomorrow on that latest BBC. Bit in the morning hardly reaching the coast and looking more on Friday now. Wouldn't be surprised to see Fridays as rain as that's the second wave. Don't like the look of this for dorchester east that is.
Its the BBC - no surprises there. Hardly accurate on reporting - 20 m snow in Scotland too apparently ....

Ok
So the Yellow Warning area for Saturday has increased in area...
Red is showing now for today in Edinburgh on the app (not on the main METO website)
We are one step away from red for tomorrow.
Amber now for Friday
Snow is falling already in SW and schools are closing - it is barely under the Yellow warning
Its coming isn't it? Will the M4 Snow shield hold up?

-6 and a -7 dewpoint. Even with the heating on I can feel it more tonight.
-
Couple of beefy showers over Reading today and back in Newbury a very light covering. Driving home though the car temp recorded -8 and then 7.5 as I got home. Suspect then a lot lower to come.. don’t know what the dew point is..
Roll on tomorrow’s radar and thread watching ... what will it bring. Hmm.

My sister is in central London and she said it was very heavy for a while but short lived. We have zilch this side of Reading!
Think there are some PPNS on their way to Benson though so fingers crossed for you..

its still giving some more in Caversham Reading, and more to come from Reading..bit heavier than I am comfortable in to drive back to Newbury in. There is a heavy PPN over middle of London, so question is do I go now? How heavy is that PPN over London
-
Properly giving it some now in Caversham Reading ...

I follow an extreme weather page on FB and these types of posts do my head in. You look in the comment section and it's just people moaning and recycled unfunny jokes.Phew, glad it’s not just me then.

Great seeing these, Reading it back seeing names now no longer on here, and of course a fair few long standing ones. I read one of my posts .. don’t remember it of course and appear quite snappy. Must have been a bit tired and grumpy.

Sorry to hear that..hope you get better soon. Winchester is still just outside the Amber warning. Wait til later for the Channel Low system to come in. It is looking more west yes, but still chance of snow for us lot on the edge of the warning. It is ridiculously cold outside.. wind is picking up too... .. Bed is the best place!
