My new Zhiyun mobile gimbal has just arrived! I'm looking forward to getting some good, stable footage of any severe weather on my new phone!
What is Gimbal? Sounds like something fluffy you have to feed if it is kept in a stable?

This is giving live updates ( saves trawling through lots of pages) ..
Question though is Florence still off the coast ( this says 75 miles) so they haven’t got the worst yet? .. sorry am out of touch.. she’s a cat one now I understand . Slight bit of relief I suspect but still doesn’t reduce the biblical amounts of rain due..

As long as they don't then expect other folks to risk their lives rescuing them, that's fine...Rights have associated consequences?
Indeed. There is always that focus on ‘a right’ to do something .. but there’s the responsibility sometimes seems to be forgotten.
Whatever choices have been made I wish everyone well and all come out physically safe n sound.

The sad thing is criticism people get for wanting to make something of themselves by working hard and then protect what they've got.
I’m not critising about how people want to make something of themselves or ever will.... So get that right as I hope you aren’t trying to make that point at me.
Btw BBC made an interesting piece about why people stay too... I’ll try to find it.. but herd mentality was one of them, and as it was such a rare thing people genuinely don’t know what to do..

I wouldn't stay personally, based on evidence but I can see other reasons as well, not wanting their personal possesions falling into thieves hands, also, I want to go blizzard chasing across Saddleworth moor, hopefully I will get the chance this winter but I could well come a cropper doing that, but I don't expect anyone to save me, I do so at my own risk.
And that’s probably the main reason- I have heard it said by a few being interviewed .. “need to look out for my stuff.. it’s all I have”
So true materialistic with no care for a life, and only things. The very very sad thing is there won’t be either left when she goes through, and nothing left whatsoever to loot.

Wave heights of 26 metres were measured in the NE quadrant of Florence.
I feel sick just reading that

Jesus, the highest point of the island is 91cm asl ,nutters edit ,peak baggers say there's a high point of 27 ft
That mentality is beyond my comprehension.. I read on some news post someone said “, I am staying here cos all my stuff is here and I don’t want it looted” ..

Unfortunately it doesnt, it means brave people will risk their lives to save stupid people.
Latest Recon aircraft flying out, Florence is 104 miles ESE of Charleston S Carolina
104 miles? That’s not far at all. Context for me is from my home to Brighton..

My friend is in Virginia and will be there for landfall. They're currently debating evacuating. I've told him not to take this thing lightly.
Good call Azazel. I believe they have been ordered to leave so tell him do as they say as it will only strain emergency services if there is a problem. Pack up and go!!

We are saying that the warning should have been in a smaller area and more towards your area and the areas affected.
So it seems, from, the should have, could have metoffice scrutiny committee.
Have you heard of William Blake? He wrote a very famous quote. Astute and worth remembering sometimes in retrospective moments.

Valid point frosty, these warnings aren’t just for general folk on where you have a potential for a light show, rumble grimblr and flooded gardens, but to help emergency and other vulnerable care services plan in the event the potential comes to full realisation I’m that area. Seems Metoffice have done a Stirling job from some of the reports coming in.

There’s a well known expression to describe unpredictability in a person or thing.
it needs rewriting to “as mad as a March’s snowfall”
lets leave the hares out of it.
