  1. It's taken forever to push south. I'm not excited anyway, because I know it's going to fall as rain in Aberdeen. I was out in Westhill this afternoon and there's is loads of snow, particularly up near the golf course.
  2. Yeah, Portlethen is colder than Aberdeen. It should be cold enough for snow tomorrow but I'll be surprised if we get anything more than a scattering of short lived snow showers which may lie come evening time. Temp up to 1.9° no way this cold front is going to produce anything other than rain here. When you here forecasters saying a band of rain, sleet and snow, you can bet the rain bit means Aberdeen and all other coastal areas!
  3. Hmmm. I think we're still the wrong side of marginal for this event. More rain last night - SHOCK! - Strang e that when the rain falls it doesn't thaw the snow it just makes everything icy.
  4. Well that is a worrying post. We just can't seem to get away from marginal in coastal areas!
  5. Hi Catch - I think you're right. These fronts are fairly weak - the main cold front arrives late tomorrow morning, although I've got a bad feeling snowcould be marginal for coastal areas...
  6. Yeah, there's a shower into the Rosehearty / Mintlaw area now but other than that, not too much to get excited about! Hopefully a few snow showers this evening though
  7. Well it's been raining most of the morning in Aberdeen. What a terrible cold snap this has been for us.
  8. It will probably fall as rain in Aberdeen, or if we're lucky wet snow which won't lie anyway! Just like the last 10 days.
  9. There's large area of snow in the Moray Firth at the moment which is still tracking in a SSW direction although it does seem to be 'staightening up and becoming wider). If it does head south we could be in the firing line in another few hours or so.
  10. I think you're right - orange cloud moving in from the NNE - snow!
  11. Wellit looks pretty much NE'ly for the next few days but as the chart in the post above shows, perhaps more of northerly is on the cards. One good thing, the temperature has slowly been falling hour by hour since early afternoon sowe should have no thaw worries - just getting the shower activity to pep up!
  12. Tell me about it! More of a northerly is EXACTLY what we need. Not only does it give us more showers, but less of a sea influence and therfore no thaw risk
  13. It's getting more overcast but it's not exactlysnow bearing cloud is it! Yeah, I did notice in the last radar sequence how it moved west more than it moved south.
  14. That's it started to get black over the horizon tho the NE - hopefullythe next 5 - 10 mins
  15. For all Aberdeen people. I can see a cell moving in from the NNE on the radar - I predict a snow shower in thenext 15 mins....
  16. Check the 5 / 6 feet wall of snow at the side of the road at Grantown!
  17. If you ask me, this cold spell has been hugely disapointing for snow lovers in Aberdeen. Okay, we have a good snowfall on the morning of the 22nd Dec but since then all we've had is rain showers, little thaws here and there and just a lame few snow grainshowers overnight today. All I've heard on the weather reports past few days ishow snow showers will particularly affect North East Scotland - it is just me or is Aberdeen not NE Scotland! When's it gonna arrive!!! ?
  18. Exactly how today has gone in Aberdeen too. Just been out for a newspaper and it does now seem cold enough for snow to lie and there are some icy patches now devloping. Temp only 1.4° at 7pm however the dewpoints must be well down. I'm just a bit alarmed at the latest BBC forecast which has Aberdeen at 4° for 8am tomorrow morning! Maybe they're just going by what happened last night when the temp rose markedly
  19. Yes and it's Steve Murr who's saying it! Couldn't believe my eyes when I seen the River Dee today, from a distance it actually looks completed frozen solid!
  20. Check out conditions at Flash - Britain's highest village http://www.maccinfo.com/Flash/
  21. Evening all, I must say I find the Met Office's current temperature in Aberdeen of -1° way off. It is bone chillingly cold out there at the moment, it must be close to -5 or -6 - my car reading measureed -4° at 4pm. They currently have Lossiemouth at -10°! Some snow showers off the east coast should give a nice covering to eastern Grampian, Angus and Fife in the next few hours.
  22. Great start to the GFS 18z run - the northerly becomes established by Wednesday lunch time soany thaw will only be very brief during the early hours of Wednesday IMO
  23. Temperature in Aberdeen has increased 4.2° to -1.7° since the cloud has started to invade from the NW.
  24. The area of snow over northern Grampian is tending to decrease in intesity and it moves SE which is unfortunate.
