  1. Now that map makes sense Ronan, those other 2 with the undercuts were bizarre.
  2. Just had a brief flurry of proper snow(Donegal)
  3. Still looks odd to me Ronan. NW getting the majority of showers and they've removed an area in the North West that was amber and shunted the amber area below it while to the North is still amber ha.
  4. Amber area is very odd looking. Lots of Western Tyrone/Derry missing while North,West,South of it included. Strange. Also the Met office said showers most frequent over Western Tyrone lol
  5. https://www.tiitraffic.ie/weather/ Lots of Weather stations across the country, click air temp and it lists the coldest to mildest. Updates every 10 minutes. Cold air starting to filter in, lough mourne in donegal at 2c, Malin head at 3c while Finner in South Donegal on the coast is currently 6c
  6. IMO the met office is being overly cautious with snow accumulations of up to 2cm for Thursday for Western and Northern areas. It's a blanket warning while their text forecast mentions West Tyrone seeing most and Down driest. Thursday looks snowier than Friday so strange totals for Friday are greater. Friday Western areas 2-5cm while Eastern areas 2-4cm for low lying places.
  7. Nothing has changed. Their warning since yesterday mentioned accumulations of up to 2cm for low levels. It depends which areas do best with showers. The NW is best. Their warning for Friday has 2-4cm for Western areas. Plus the Irish Met has an orange warning, confidence is high for them to issue that
  8. Met office updates mentions prolonged snow on Thursday. Toys out of pram on model thread for next weeks Easterly
  9. Matt Hugo-Winter of disconnect between GFS & ECM comes to a 'head' again with the GFS having 'got one over on' the worlds (allegedly) best model. Tad reactionary
  10. NI weather on FB update. Note-Warning is for tomorrow only, Thursday/Friday's snow warning will be issued tomorrow There has been a few headaches today with regards to expected snowfall this week. We have temporarily suspended warnings for Thursday & Friday (These will be reissued) we have also amended tomorrows warning. NI Weather & Flood Advisory Service have amended the following weather warning. Yellow warnings of Snow, High Winds & Low Temperatures has been issued for Northern Ireland. (See Map, warning area has been amended to remove some parts) Wind - Gusts of up to 60mph are expected to affect NI from the early hours of Wednesday and throughout the day. Possibly leading to disruption to travel. Snow - Colder air will move in across the country later tomorrow and showers will begin to turn to sleet and snow, over the hills at first but increasingly to low levels later. Some heavy showers at times leading to accumulations of up to 5cm (Possibly 10cm) in places, especially over the hills. Note that accumulations will vary across the country as snow is expected in the form of showers rather than bands of snow. Snow combined with winds of up to 60mph will lead to blizzard like conditions at times, along with the risk of thunder & lightning during the heavier showers. Making for some hazardous conditions across much of the country along with possible disruption to travel and power supplies. Day time temperatures are unlikely to get much above freezing from Wednesday onwards and nighttime temperatures are expected to be well below freezing especially in snow covered areas. That combined with the wind chill will make it feel bitter. Wind warning is valid from 01:00 11/01/17 until 23:00 11/01/17 Snow warning is valid from 17:00 11/01/17 until 23:00 11/01/17
  11. Friday looks a lot colder and snowy on the met office automated fc for what its worth
  12. Total accumulated precipitation. First graph shows what totals are from now to 7pm Wednesday, showers turning more to snow after that, second pic shows total accumulated by 4pm Friday. Donegal looks best place to be
  13. Friday looks colder too 1pm still at freezing across many areas. -9 uppers at times in the NW
  14. GFS shows an organised band of snow pushing down for Northern areas 100-150 miles off the North coast at 10am Thursday By 4pm 7pm 10pm
  15. An upgrade since this morning's downgrade is my guess
  16. Outlook for Thursday to Saturday: Thursday windy with further sleet or snow showers and drifting on high ground. Less windy Friday with some sunshine at times but further snow showers. Perhaps milder on Saturday. Updated at: 1516 on Tue 10 Jan 2017 Better
  17. Met office have since issued a new warning for Friday with 2-4cm for low levels. The FC earlier mentioned showers maybe more of a Wintry mix on Friday so slightly confusing.
  18. Irish Met Wind Warning for Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo West to northwest winds will increase tonight, with means of 55 to 65 km/h expected, giving gusts between 90 and 110 km/h. Winds will be strongest in exposed coastal and hilly areas. Issued:Tuesday 10 January 2017 12:00 Valid:Tuesday 10 January 2017 22:00 to Wednesday 11 January 2017 10:00 STATUS YELLOW Snow-ice Warning for Connacht, Leinster, Cavan, Monaghan and Donegal Weather Advisory Very cold wintry weather will develop from Wednesday night onwards. Showers will turn wintry in many places, from Wednesday evening to Saturday, with falls of sleet and snow expected. The heaviest of the snow fall is most likely over Ulster, Connacht, north Leinster and west Munster and especially so on high ground. Valid 11/1800 to 14/1200 Saturday. Issued:Tuesday 10 January 2017 12:00 Valid:Wednesday 11 January 2017 18:00 to Saturday 14 January 2017 12:00
  19. Sadly downgrades from the updated warnings for Thursday. Accumulations up to 2cm down from 2-5cm yesterday. 5-10cm above 200m down from 20cm. It is what it is
  20. The strong winds will help dry things out, the temperature around freezing or below. Snow won't take long to accumulate. I've seen soaking wet transformed in to white lots of times, its Ireland afterall never really is dry ha.
  21. To follow on from Ronan's post here are the two warning maps 1 and 2
  22. 2010? Jesus lol. Hopefully you get something this week
  23. Yes. Places with a good covering could have it for a long time if the ECM came off. Of course the upper temperature increases but the surface would be much colder if we had a clear high overhead.
