Good old January always full of nonsense. Yes a Cat2 5mph short of cat3 hurricane set to make landfall in Ireland around the strength of a cat 1 hurricane wind speed wise is standard fare.

It's been very wet across the North West. Especially Autumnal since Friday, those torrential downpours that come and go every ten minutes, reminds me of a mobile period in Autumn. Funny thing is I don't even mind lol

Both Met office and Irish met mention light rain with small amounts this evening. Absolutely bucketing here,street flooded red and pink echoes on the met office radar. How do they get it so wrong?

Frosty, Warmer to the West and North if I'm reading that ECM correctly? That's unusual if so as it's mostly the opposite.

Follows on colder behind it and Tuesday night currently has -8 widely across the North. Maybe one last hoorah, it''ll be freezing in the wind regardless,-7 windchill at times for worst affected areas.

Tonight Further heavy rain at times overnight, especially in western and northern counties, with falls of sleet or snow also in parts of the north and northwest. Friday: A cold, cloudy day, with further heavy rain in all areas at times during the day, but drier in some places for a while in the morning. There will be some heavy downpours especially in parts of the west and northwest with local flooding and some snow here also with accumulations on higher ground. Afternoon temperatures ranging from 2 to 4 degrees in parts of the west to 8 or 9 degrees in the southeast and the winds moderate variable, fresh in coastal areas.

Quite a temperature contrast across the country tonight. Temperatures widely 10-12c. Finner in South Donegal currently 10c while Malin in the North is 4c at midnight.
