  1. Terrible June! Much better from around the 18th July onwards.
  2. Wow! this bugger is active, frequent lightning and now starting to rain very heavily. I got quite concerned for a minute because I genuinely started to think there was a tornado starting to develop to my north, but it seemed to flatten out.
  3. I do know that the Summer of 1666 was hot and dry, with July and I think August both recording CETs of around 18C. IIRC there was a dry spell starting from late-1665 that persisted into the summer which played a big part in the fire.
  4. I think I'll name summer 2017 as the summer of severe downpours. Just had one (albeit with no thunder) that rivalled 25th June, 2016 in terms of long, intense rainfall. Roads and gardens flooded and unfortunately still lots more heavy rain to come. Oh well, I did wish for more rain...
  5. There's some incredibly black and scary clouds to My north and west right now. Wind is starting to pick up really strongly, plants blowing all over the place and the sound of the thunder in the distance looms closer. Waiting for it to go off. It's honestly quite scary looking (I used to be deathly afraid of storms as a kid and a part of my brain still goes into panic mode lmao)
  6. Just had a thunderstorm with some phenomenal rainfall, coming after yesterdays shower which also had two rounds of biblical rain. All of the thunder and lightning occurred as the storm approached with nothing after the rain started. The grass has gone from dry and brown to lush green in just four days after some extremely heavy rainfall in a short amount of time. And more rainfall forecast tonight!
  7. This must be how storms used to be in the old days! Haven't seen anything quite as good since for a long time, lightning-wise.
  8. Just had a spectacular thunderstorm here in New Ash green. I managed to miss all the lightning strikes, but holy cr** that was some loud thunder! Rain was also extremely heavy, on a par with the ferocious and downright scary storm on 25th June last year, except no hail.
  9. What a coincidence Brexit and the Election have both seen thunderstorms in or around London (I'm not trying to instigate political conversation, just saying)
  10. Just heard a distant crack of thunder. Think the heaviest of the rain is just about to pass overhead. All this rain has been lovely, cross fingers this dry spell over the past year can b*gger off!
  11. Just had a quick shower and holy... I've never seen a gust of wind so severe. I'm pretty sure it was in excess of 90mph. I'm surprised the shed didn't fly away! Leaves strewn around everywhere and lots of standing water. Rain was so severe it was like being in the shower.
  12. Wow! What a change from late-May. I think it's quite ironic that the winds today are stronger than most of the winds we had during winter! I can certainly see there being a lot of fallen trees and localised flooding by the afternoon. Bring it on! I love cold, wet and miserable summers. 2012 was almost the perfect summer for me.
  13. I'll go for a notably warm and thundery June this year. 16.1, please.
  14. I'm thinking quite a chilly May this year, so I'll go for 10.1°C.
  15. Quite a bizarre feeling evening for the time of year. Still 17°C at around 7:30pm. It feels more like June than March!
  16. I'll go with a warmer, sunnier and slightly drier April this year, with an heatwave around or near Easter, similar to 1949 or 2003. 9.3C, please!
  17. Just thought I'd point out that 1990 isn't the warmest on record, that actually goes to 1957 (9.2C).
  18. After a rather outlandish guess for January, I'll go with a rather more sane guess of 4.1, please.
  19. Just looked out the window and was surprised to see that the rain has already turned to snow and is settling very quickly!
  20. I assume you meant to quote someone else because I'm baffled at what you're on about.
