  1. This little beggar seems to be crabbing it's way to and through Swindon'ish, any non CG lightning with it??
  2. Well, the channel has crushed em! They dipped their toes in it, brrrrrr! Much to cold and that's that!!! I think!!
  3. When you talk about "a cap in place" / "capping" / breaking the "cap"..... What is the "cap" or can it involve more than a single reason/ingredient/s? It seems to be some sort of barrier/ceiling/layer? & is it always at the same height? When I was at Leicester Speedway earlier today, getting rid of around 50,000 gallons of puddles rainwater, I noticed some convection that basically came from nowhere, but it didn't complete, not even any rain from it, and it just seemed to dissipate to nothing... Is the "cap" the reason for its failure to get to its next stage and beyond? Thanks in advance....... Karl
  4. Well, the storm that passed over the King Power Stadium was quite active. I saw one of those loopy strikes that doesn't seem to earth, it really gave the helicopter a scare, which retired to a safer distance!! All quiet now.....
  5. Been knealing in my front door open, big lightning over the King Power Stadium, then big claps of thunder, then big claps from the Leicester supporters!!!
  6. Lightning right above the King Power Stadium, big claps of thunder, followed by big claps from the Leicester supporters!!!!***********
  7. First tentative signs of convection over I think, west Leicester..
  8. Think we'll get away with it for a large part of this particular thundery threat Gordon.. Wouldn't mind if we get "clipped" by a storm after dark, as long as it keeps its distance around 5-8 miles away so I can enjoy the lightning and rumbling thunder safely...
  9. I'm an android jockey as well, but quite experienced.... I noticed the locations missing ages ago, but assumed it may be A privacy issue....
  10. Confirmed!! Still same place, same size, lapping each other!! Busted!!
  11. What are these floating around in the English Channel? Are they extremely heavy but small showers, or are they some sort of annaprop? Screen shot from 02:25 Friday am..
  12. Thanks... Also, do you know what "Meh" stands for?
  13. Can someone clarify lightning within 50km of a point please? For example, the first chart above has a "technical term" yellow splodge, so if I took a pin and stuck it in anywhere within that yellow splodge, then drew a 50km circle from the centre pin point, including any area within that circle, even if it part of the circle is outside the yellow splodge, there could be lightning? Sorry if that's a rather complicated description, couldn't think how to shorten it!!!!
  14. We've got to prepare a speedway track on Sunday for a Monday evening race meeting.... It usually involves adding thousands of gallons of water to it the day/evening before, and then further watering on race day, especially in warm/windy/sunny weather...... So my question is, Leicester / Thunderstorms? Sun/Monday.......?? Odds of copping a soaking naturally?? Cheers Speedway Slider.....

  16. Very interesting weather here in Leicester, soft hail, gusty winds, no thunder yet, this was my view to the west I think, the Birmingham head perhaps??
  17. Question:: Just looking on Blitzortung, Italy having some action at the moment.. lots of the storms/cells seem to cluster right on the coastlines, what causes this please? You have a look at the attached screen grab. Cheers Karl
  18. Gone black as your hat to one side, bright orange the other!! With a double rainbow on the dark side!! Heavy big spots of rain, no thunder yet... 19.54 Both taken only 1 minute apart!
  19. Heavy showers all around Leicester, yet immediately above there's enough blue sky to make a sailors suit!! Convection is going on, but slow going over Leicester, central Leicester.... Here's a view from the east.
  20. No new strikes displayed/detected on Blitzortung for a while now........ Think now the sun has dropped, that may be it for this episode...? Any real chance of any reinvigoration?
  21. Popping up all over the place south of say Daventry, all seem tiny, or at least tiny areas of convection.... Wonder if any will stray as far north as Leicester?? Thoughts people?
  22. Closed in here in Leicester now, temps dropped from 16c to a chilly 13c, but it has a clammy/humid/dank feeling to it, if you know what I mean.....
  23. The "click heres" don't seem to work on the old thread...
