  1. So there is quite a lot of activity for this early in the season...
  2. I thought that, from what I know, you can change the size of these squares, but surely, it can't be if a square has a number 34 in it, then that's the number of strikes detected in that square?? Can it? Sometimes the squares have huge numbers in them. I have seen squares with 200+ in them on occasions....?
  3. Question: Blitzortung... Each square/raster has a number in it.. what do the numbers signify? See attached.. Cheers..
  4. Hi Gordon, Speedway Slider here..... Looks like we're safe this evening, looks like it's slipping east of Leicester/Bedford areas, if they survive that far north.. Tomorrow's is another saucepan of skate!!
  5. If you look at the shower mass moving in across England, it looks like a man / woman running!!! See attached!! Not very scientific, but hey! Worth a post I'd say!!
  6. Just watched a recording of a tree getting struck near the presentation area at the boat race!! Impressive strike, the tree caught fire! That'll get onto YouTube no doubt...
  7. When does a new thunderstorm season officially start? Or put it another way, what is the Netweather start and finish of the UK thunderstorm season? And then, what are classed as out of season thunderstorms?
  8. Perhaps someone can post any charts from the event..... Please?
  9. Yes, sorry, didn't ask this well at all! What was the anomaly that caused the snow in June...?
  10. Chucking it down in Leicester!! Temp at 2 metres is 5.7c, none of the white stuff for us me thinks.. Hope the charts above for mid March verify, desperately need to dry our speedway track out..
  11. Are these charts ever viewable in fluid state? I mean like in motion (time) as a moving scenario? So you could see the lows/highs/fronts/jet, moving through time/dates...? Would that be better than stills, or would it (pardon the pun) cloud the facts? Cheers Speedway Slider.
  12. Not sure if this is the right place, so feel free to move it if required.... The meteor over Scotland last night was timed around 18:45 yes? Ok, so what did I see this morning around 02:00? It was a bright flash, with a small strobe, say a second long.. Did not hear any thunder, as I first thought it was lightning.. I was not in a position to see the source direct, so I'm not sure what it was.. I am in central Leicester, did anyone else see this phenomenon this morning?? Cheers Speedway Slider
  13. Yes, I have found some info on the pv, just seems very Americanized, I was hoping for A more Great Britainised version.... Not to worry, I will continue with the Americanized flavour..
  14. Where can I look to find information on the Polar Vortex? Thanks Karl
  15. Not sure if it was a dream, but did the East Midlands (Leicester) have any thunder in the early hours today? Around 4.30-7.30 am? Sort of woke to something, but never fully regained consciousness if you know what I mean?
  16. Are we really in for all this heavy, ex Henri rain/thunder after all?? The rain radar seems to indicative of a Kent Clipper now, more than a main England/south central Wales event? Has it all slipped further south/east?
  17. What is the situation weatherwise for Monday evening.......? Looking at met office forecasting, it looks like rain from Sunday evening constant through to early hours of Tuesday! With temps more associated with March/early April... Is this gonna change much do you think? Surely we need more warmth to initiate any thundery stuff....?
  18. Would that squall line be the narrow pink/purple line going from top right to the bottom left at the from of the main rain band? See attached rain alarm screen grab.....
  19. Yes, we have had some blown over lenticular over Leicester, moved on now or dissipated.. Now small convective developments, and very warm and partial sunshine.......
  20. The CAP. Can someone explain how the temperature is worked out for the (Breaking of)? What dictates that temprature, and why does it vary so much? Thanks in advance for the info, from the very learned people on this superb forum.....
