  1. Can I add as well it’s not particularly frequent when it is nearby - probably hear a lot more thunder than flashes you see. In fact only flashes I’ve seen today was up above 40th floor in London Bridge, and those were mostly just periphery blue flashes. Thunder was very boomy, and sounded quite melancholic - a bit like a sad singer in a dimly lit bar would sound making thunder noises. Hoping for lots more later on tonight
  2. Ooh look a chance at some thunder for the storm starved south east Seriously though - there is so much convective activity heading generally this way from several different places Today is a bit nuts - never properly experienced embedded storms - it’s like a rainy drizzly day but every once in a while there’s a storm around. Weird
  3. The forecast specifically mentions Retford for ball lightning and thunderflies
  4. Can I just point out that lane hoggers in lane 2 today forced me to legally overtake on lane 3 which was covered in surface water and potentially dangerous, just because they didn’t want to use lane 1. What’s wrong with these people? Seriously it’s a massive problem and it’s getting worse and worse - but in conditions like these it’s bordering on stupidity
  5. I don’t think anyone should knock the forecasters at all - but there is an abundance of warning out there and depending on where you read it the forecasts contradict each other a lot. I think this confusion is causing a lot of frustration amongst ppl who either love or hate storms, because it’s no help when trying to plan a chase, or an outdoor event, or I imagine any job where you have a risk from lightning or flash flooding... This whole week must be a nightmare to try to even begin to predict - doesn’t seem to be following the usual patterns, at all so I think credit where credit’s due - but I can understand people’s frustration after the week (and day) we’ve just had. Also there’s plenty more to come which is gonna cause even more headaches
  6. I have the slo mo from this as well. This was the best frame from it
  7. Easing a bit now. I think. Hopefully it’ll become a little more widespread to the south west for my journey home
  8. You took my post out of context - I also tried to make clear it was a personal rant too, and I totally understand the difficulty in forecasting. Unfortunarely the weather will do everything it can to be difficult and if it can change direction at the last minute I dare say it will!
  9. It’s inadequate forecasting imho - not point fingers at anyone or anywhere in particular but it’s the consistent posting of warnings with nothin coming of it that starts to grate. We have had over a week of warnings and every time the wind has changed or it went too slow or it went too quick or it just didn’t happen at all. There is a real danger of a cry wolf scenario where people stop taking the warnings seriously. If the forecast end up being too general maybe it should just be scrapped? Maybe i’m Just getting irritated by the let downs - it just feels relentless! I’m hoping today’s storm makes it to us - and looking at Thursday we are in with a shout but other than that i’m Just going to watch the radars and the skies until someone can give me a more accurate picture of what’s happening. rant over , lol
  10. I’m up in the air London Bridge - this could be rather exciting - found a corner where I get an unobstructed view east...
  11. I’m in London Bridge and it appears to be coming right this way!
  12. I’m about to go up the Shard I’ll be inside the thunderstorm if it makes it that far
  13. There’s nothing better than the weather doing a handbrake turn over France
  14. Got thunderfog a few years ago I remember I was on the hogs back and it was just strobing all around, even though the storms were over Woking / chertsey way. Didnt know it was a thing until I saw that
