There will be a cap in place during the day - but provided it can be eroded or broken down (by forcings apparently tomo) then the potential of the energy locked in below it can be released in the form of epic hair-singing thunderstorms edit: he beat me to it

Dunno if it’s worth the two hour trek up toward where those showers are forming - they are heading NW so it’s not an easy chase and takes me a long long way from home. i think i’ll save my energy and resources for tomorrow edit: currently near Potters Bar

I personally wouldn’t even try - the storms will pop up and disappear without warning and a lot of the strikes you see on radar can be related to the same bolt (sometimes 3 or 4) Also a lot of it will be IC lightning

We need everything we can get It may only be May but this could be our last chance at thunderstorms for the next seven years

This is when I begin to get disheartened - this ain’t a good start seeing as the first few opportunities have been kind of busts Today looks like a write-off too
