I found it interesting to observe that last night’s storms seemed to fit into the category of ‘pulse thunderstorms’ - where within mere minutes cells would out of nowhere become like mature summer storms and last for anything up to half an hour, but then they would almost just stop completely - like someone pulled the plug. I guess that’s what you get when you try and do your MCS storm out-of-season

It’s incredible I saw a bolt which seemed to run through the whole set of cells all the way from oxford

New cells quickly developing near Portsmouth. Flashes lighting up our spare room!

Anyone else watching the amazing show from those cells over Wilts? the skies have cleared and I can see the anvils lighting up. It’s beautiful

April storms don’t like the M4 much

Left Butser cos it went eerily silent and there was just constant lightning, so drove home up the A3 - didn’t get the rain but the storm kept up! Was then in an intense electrical downpour in Godalming and now watching it flashing over Epsom. Amazing storms. Can’t believe it’s April!

So I was at Butser Hill but everything is dying on approach. Lots to the west but it’s not worth the chase at the mo. I call ‘thundery rain’ so far...

Feels like there is plenty of energy once it gets to the U.K. to keep em going. Dunno if that’s how elevated stuff works but it’s really humid here and the clouds al around us are looking pretty sexy (convectively speaking, of course) Slow moving early evening storms, perfect!

Getting ultra humid here but little sun getting through the cloud so elevated storms probably won’t root in our parts. either way I must say I’m excited about our prospects now the channel’s got going

I really really hope so... best case it spreads out and we get nice wide series of storms coming up so everyone has a bit of the action...

If you ask me head southeast towards London ? i’m getting The feeling we are really well placed for later but i’m still nervous about it ?

Reminds me of the sky on the night of one of the big storms in 2015 (I think) - the one where Poole got pasted! I was up near Luton and the sky was just this lovely thick blanket of instability and then it all went BANG!
