  1. Spotter this in the distance to my SE from near Reading / M4 - possible this could kick off a few SB storms as it passed through over the next half hour? Or am I going a bit mad?
  2. Courtesy of Matt over on UKWW. Won’t pretend I know how to read these things properly yet - but look how wiggly those lines are. There’s some proper wet and wiggly weather out there...
  3. I’m having this issue - so today i’m trying out some new spots - but it comes with its own set of disadvantages... got to find somewhere BEFORE the storm starts or usually end up on some 30km long stretch of tree-lined A road
  4. What’s the view like there? Have you got means of transport available, or are you staying put? I imagine good views from there if you know where to be
  5. Yeah the strong cap sustaining even under the high temps. Lots of CU though. Sky is playing it’s cards very close to it’s chest - really can’t work out what’s going to happen....
  6. I think this guy would do a pretty accurate forecast for today’s potential: basically - we don’t know
  7. Surfaced based storms could fire at any point up until 8pm but the most significant area of interest is the potentially severe elevated stuff that will form as a result of the destabilisation of the airmass over the channel at some time around 7pm onwards. There was mention of it moving through quicker than anticipated so I don’t know if this has changed the timings at all. I just don’t know...
  8. Just to the south of reading at the mo. All eeriest quiet on radar but you know it will all start to kick off without much warning...
  9. I’m driving over toward Bracknell way, though i’m Wondering about hook instead
  10. I am aware we are looking for surface storms over the U.K. for the next few hours though
  11. There will be people calling bust at 7:30pm, about 15 mins before the first strikes appear just south of the Solent - mark my words...
  12. Hi, don't know anyone can really give you the clarity you need as this particular scenario is difficult to pin point. As you are slightly further north I think any storms you get will be less intense as those on the southern coasts, but there will still be (potentially) a lot of lightning and it won’t all be intra-cloud (so if your family member is worried about the lightning then it’s worth knowing there is a very good chance of nearby forked lightning) I used to be scared of the sound of thunder and it was that which I feared most from storms. Storms tonight could well be frequent and loud in your area (some shotgun thunder) - we just don’t really know yet! Keep an eye on blitzortung or lightningmaps and you can monitor the speed, relative intensity and track of storms in and around your area. hope this helps?
  13. The game is well and truly on! We have sun!!! Now watch those temperatures rocket...
  14. I’ll probably be in a similar area. Was considering the M3 to be a good route. Don’t know where to start but as the storms may track that way up towards west London, a good spot to end up *might* be up on Richmond hill later on
  15. There’s definitely some Acas about - I really don’t know what to read into this! what I do know however - is that France storms to the south seem to have faded which might mean less cloud cover tomo...
  16. Yup same thing started using lightningmaps instead, but I prefer bztung when it works
