  1. Be great for the NW snow if this came off:
  2. Without looking too far ahead, as it's very volatile, the near term is looking quite decent for parts of NW England and Northern England tomorrow and into Saturday with a cold NW Feed in terms of snow acc. I can see the hills doing quite well from this:
  3. It's for snow & ice in the North West, it is on there.
  4. Any time now good Sir. https://forum.netweather.tv/topic/72242-model-output-update-times/
  5. Wouldn't pay much attention to the usual suspects in the MOD thread. ECM is a peach for us right the way through, what happens at T240 is anyones guess. GFS is also great. UKMO is decent. Looks like a good cold spell coming up next week, and the NW isn't in a bad position at all.
  6. I think the snowfall of 2010 has done the damage to some people... ECM is also worth a shout - heights around Scandi at the end of the run and the UK in a slack NE feed, keeping the cold weather with us for longer. One thing is for sure Frosty, it's going to be very cold next week, when & where snow fall will end up is anyone's guess at the moment.
  7. Models will chop and change on each run, the pattern is still there, it's still going to be bitterly cold next week and beyond, with no real way for any milder weather to come back in. I feel some level heads are needed this morning, and there is really no point in pinpointing where it will snow and when until really, Sunday night? Just take note of Fergie's post, no point in looking at too much detail yet.
  8. I didn't wake up once, and it's hardly even a breeze here in the NW.... Ditto WH above.
  9. That's the scenario I expect to happen - not the Atlantic coming back. Long cold spell I believe coming up.
  10. Not much wind here to be honest yet, albeit it's not set to properly arrive later, but as others have said, seems like a fairly normal atlantic storm, with high gusts.
  11. That's amazing Nick, didn't realise it was that good of a view where you lived. Perfect.
  12. I'm fairly certain when Frosty see's this chart: He's going to be outside doing a lot of this:
  13. Does not get much better than that Mucka, especially for everyone and not just a select few.
  14. Very marginal for the SW, agreed. Majority of the UK though is showing a countrywide snow event.. Chances of verification exactly as shown... 1/50 i'd say. Need to wait until at least 48 hours.
  15. Don't just buy a shovel, buy a snow plow... It's fast becoming THAT GFS.... Heavy slider...
  16. Good to see the GFS keeping that nice little feature... Someone will get a dumping from that. So far so good, maybe a little better at the moment. Edit: Get your shovels out:
  17. While it's technically model related, there is already a dedicated thread for it here: https://forum.netweather.tv/topic/82219-atlantic-storm-14th-15th-january/page-29#entry3118030 With 587 comments.
  18. Status RED for you guys. batten down the hatches: Wind Warning for Exposed coastal and mountain areas of Donegal, Sligo, Mayo, Galway, Clare, Limerick and Kerry. Wind gusts 130 to 150km/h possible. High onshore seas also Issued: Wednesday 14 January 2015 14:00 Valid: Wednesday 14 January 2015 21:00 to Thursday 15 January 2015 12:00 http://www.met.ie/nationalwarnings/default.asp
  19. Just don't go too close to the edge Mr. Prudence !
  20. Aye, but we are talking gusts, not continous speeds. I was at the top of Mam Tor in continous 80mph winds, it blew me over, that was bad. 50-60mph gusts? Meh..usually just brings the saying "Bloody heck, that was quite strong" then carry on with your day.
  21. Got hit by Hail Stone at the top of Mam Tor a few weeks back in wind about a continuous 80mph + - it hurt.
  22. If the winds were forcasted 100mph+ i'd be paying attention. But 50-60mph, and max gusts of potentially 70mph, i'm not sure what the big fuss is about. That's just... Windy with rain?
  23. What ? Where has that come from ? Are you referring to the currently synoptics churned out recently by any chance Barry ?
