  1. It's set to start this afternoon... This would be pure music to my ears if it was for the UK: “This storm definitely has the capability of being not only historic but also catastrophic,†said Benjamin Sipprell, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Taunton. The weather service issued a blizzard warning in effect from 7 p.m. Monday to 1 a.m. Wednesday. “People should be making preparations right now,†Sipprell said Sunday. “This is going to be all-out whiteout snow, crippling everything. We’re highly advising no travel, starting late Monday, going into Tuesday and on into Wednesday.â€
  2. A colony of Penguins with frozen wings, hence the reflection.
  3. Don't fret yet, I think it will be updated tomorrow to include Cheshire as it's looking like a Streamer to me.
  4. Not wrong there sorepaw1 - Not only that we have the following: Roaring Jet All the way through to the end of the run: The PV strongly around Canada / Greenland Again, all the way through to the end of the run: Pluz zero signs of any blocking. This charts sums this Winter up for me: Cold & sometimes snowy incursions, quickly followed by a breakdown, followed by a transient wet & windy small "storm" in a rinse & repeat fashion. It's better to view the NH Charts to get a good scope of how things are: What I would say is any cold incursions from the West, North West or North, enjoy them when they come, because I doubt we will see any sustained cold for the foreseeable future.
  5. Imagine this place if a warning came out like this for us: Blizzard Warning remains in effect from 7 pm this evening to 1 am EST Wednesday. Locations: eastern and southeastern Massachusetts as well as all of Rhode Island. Hazard types: Heavy snow, strong winds and blizzard conditions. Considerable blowing and drifting snow. Strong to damaging winds. Accumulations: snow accumulations of around 20 to 30 inches. With locally higher amounts. Snowfall rates of 2 to 4 inches an hour at times. Timing: while the storm is expected to begin late today and linger into early Wednesday, the worst of the storm will be tonight through Tuesday afternoon. Impacts: Heavy snow and strong winds will result in White-out / blizzard conditions with near zero visibility. Travel will be impossible and life threatening across the entire region. Also snow may be wet enough to result in downed tree limbs and power outages in addition to the winds. Winds: North-northeast 15 to 25 mph with gusts around 65 to 75 mph. The height of the winds will be late tonight into Tuesday. Visibilities: one quarter mile or less at times. Thats for NE USA.
  6. Buxton & The Cat & Fiddle are blanketed in snow. http://www.derbyshireheritage.co.uk/Menu/webcams/camlist.php Can't even see upper Hulme. Very nice.
  7. Thats brilliant Weather Master. Thumbs up.
  8. DOnt worry about details now, it's not even set to be here until tomorrow rush hour time. Albeit, it will split and miss our region giving small falls to Cumbria and Wales...
  9. I can see that happening this time Liam, it's not strong enough. I'd put my house on the front reaching Wales, and splitting so North Wales gets snow, Cumbria gets snow, and those in-between don't get anything, maybe a light shizzle that manages to reach inland.,
  10. 1C here and falling now, Dew point -1C and falling (Salford, Manchester)
  11. They are actually gaining in intensity as they leave the Manchester area and head NE towards Leeds.
  12. It seems even more random showers are popping up on the radar. Convection, but from what ? http://www.netweather.tv/index.cgi?action=radar;sess=
  13. Mucka, your "up yours" comment was highly amusing, but I am in agreement here, I don't believe this front will do much, I expect it to fizzle, then split from N. Wales to Cumbria leaving the middle to snizzle.
  14. See, thats 10M makes all the difference !
  15. Some just popped up on the radar: http://www.netweather.tv/index.cgi?action=radar;sess=
  16. I actually came down the moss the other night on the way home from work due to that accident on the new road, where the woman sadly lost her life. Twelve Yards Road, wouldn't have used it but as it's a company car, why not? Pot Holes galore!
  17. Aye, I can imagine Crewe. It's been like that all day here, just showers feeding through Manchester all day, although winds later on tonight are set to shift from this currently Westerley feed, so god knows how long it will last, maybe that's why the Euro4 was picking up on a more Cheshire Gap Streamer later on?
  18. Quite Bizarre! But yes, one road in, one road out Irlam!!
  19. That's true, all models are pointing to a dry clear night, but most don't see the convection from the Irish Sea...
  20. Temps falling quite nicely now, just had an intense hail storm in Irlam, it's now 1C so hopefully it can drop some more. Just looked at the radar and I see the Irish Sea is prepping them up a lot, each one has gone over this area all day, in a sort of Manchester Streamer as opposed to the more frequent Cheshire Gap Streamer. Hopefully see some snow later on.
  21. Just had a sleety shower with snow mixed in Salford - getting a bit colder as before was all rain.
