  1. Proper cold air upon us now, our pond froze last night for the 1st time this winter...-2degC at 9am, the remnants of the snow flurry last night have only just melted, plenty of showers out in N.Sea but missing us, probably hit Norfolk...temp has struggled up to 1degC...was lightly snowing for few mins this morning from very little cloud..!
  2. Unbelievable...with the f/casts given for the region i spent 2 days looking out my window and light watching, gave up today after having rain/sleet/rain for 24hrs, so watched a couple of programs on TV, went to make a good cuppa, looked out...and it had snowed...not a lot but dusting on sheds, cars, etc...? there wasn't any echo on radar...? temp now -2degC and all frozen solid...
  3. I'm with all you guys on this one, i wish this weather system would just do one...fed up of cold Nly rain, had that all through August on the east coast, after all the promise and hype this cold spell doesn't even warrant being in January atall, need to get that High in later next week and see if can drag the Scandi air eastwards...least we'd have some good frosts then...
  4. I reckon the NYM and Wolds will see a fair bit of snow tonight looking at the amount of ppn coming down on radar...it'll just be rain for us...
  5. In the words of James May...'This winter is cock'...we have a gale force Nly coming from the Arctic region...in January...it's 1degC...and it's raining...!!! it should be snow all the way, in the 80's i fished regularly along the east coast and even in November when we had Nly gales it was snow, even at 2-3degC, i've seen 3" of snow on the beach several times in the past so what the frack is going on this winter...i'm really miffed...if you can't tell...
  6. I looked at the Met Office f/cast for the east coast today...warnings of snow, heavy at times from Sun to Wed with NNE winds, so i got quite optimistic, then i watched the BBC f/cast for the same period, no snow in east, NWly winds and High pressure moving in by Mon bringing milder air...!!??
  7. Check this out...M61 just west of Bolton...!!
  8. Typical, the region that already has a foot of snow is going to get a 'Polar Low' hitting them tonight, i thought its track might follow the wind direction and come over our side...ah well...
  9. It wouldn't matter where i lived 'Barry95'...it still wouldn't snow properly, since being 10yrs old it's avoided me or i've been away...if i moved to Derbyshire i bet they'd have the least snow ever...
  10. Lordy...light hail/snow shower from that band off ppn...trying to settle but struggling...
  11. Amazing...just checked out Met Office 'Snow' weather warning areas and on the E.Yorks coast there's a tiny gap between the 2, and guess where i live...yep, in the gap...!!!
  12. Surprise, surprise...the human snowshield aka me...is at it again, one snow shower last night for 20mins then it melted away...all the heavy snow f/cast for my area went south into Lincolnshire...where it's still feeding into, we have diddly squat in South Holderness, not even ice...and i bet when the wind turns northerly later it'll be sleet here on the coasts, so my winter so far is a disaster...same as the last, while everyone else geets snow, snow and more snow...i really despair...
  13. I would love to see 20cm of snow, last time that happened in my location was 1987...if i remember correctly...
  14. See the Met Office has updated its 'Snow' weather warning area for Wed/Thu to include all the east side of UK down to Lincs so might get some snow after all...still not holding my breath though as their graphics are still showing rain and 4degC for us...
  15. A lot of people getting too excited about a f/cast similar to 2 previous 'severe winter period' ones...which downgraded with every update and bombed for most of us, just think back to the 80's when all we had to go on was a newspaper report in the morning, a TV f/cast after the news and looking out of the window...happy days...
  16. I reckon E.Riding coast will miss out again too, f/cast already changed from Arctic Nly airstream to cold NWly so the Moors/Wolds will stop whatever little does come over from the NW...great...and by the time wind does turn NEly milder air is getting sucked into Scandi from Sth...so be rain/sleet...again...
  17. Aye...a lot of hype re the next cold spell, need temps below freezing here on the coast to get any decent snowfall, there has been 4" of snow covering the beach before though with a similar set-up...
  18. So the Models/Charst are showing another severe cold spell coming...as the last 2 went from perfect to pitiful...for most of us..a few days beforehand, i'll wait until they arive before i am convinced this time...
  19. So W+S.Yorks and Derbyshire have tons of snow...while the rest of us can only dream of such conditions, someone mentioned that Paul Hudson said 'snow on hills, rain/sleet elsewhere'...which is exactly right, all of you posting about snow are around 100m asl or above...well for your information that is a hill, quite a big one, in marginal sutuations 30m can be the difference...all we've had over here on the flat land is rain/sleet...so be thankful for your hills...
  20. Ah well...once again i will go to bed, and wake up disappointed...some Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire/S.Yorkshire folk are going to get a nice surprise/shock when they wake up in the morning...
  21. Nottingham is the sweet spot indeed...us on the east coast have had a poor run..Feb+March need to man-up...
  22. I'd be happy with 1cm...if you want to see heavy snow check out the road cams along the M1 around Nottingham on the BBC Travel site, quite impressive...
  23. Just been checking out the road cams on the BBC Travel site and on the M1 around Nottingham its snowing like chuff...even the motorway is covered in places...lucky so and so's...not seen snow like that here in years...
  24. Seeing the radar image posts is really making me despair...if the Low had been 100miles further east it could've been great...story of my location
  25. So the Midlands, S+W Yorks get more snow...while I wait...and wait...and wait...and watch the ppn go round me, wherever it comes from...I'm convinced that I'm a snow deflector...
