  1. Not a bad wee event here. A solid 2-3 inches. This really has been one of the best winters in years.
  2. First pinks starting to show already. All forecasts said it would be a rain turning quickly to snow event as well. Looks exactly that on the radar.
  3. If you look at the netweather radar and run it through animation you can see that the precipitation touches the Donegal coast at 2pm and at 4pm it's just reached the border with NI. Really slow moving and precipitation is broadening and intensifying too.
  4. Layer of snow here this morning and radar looks very tasty out West!
  5. @ronan cheers, all the cards fell in my favour this week. It's too late now but is there anywhere that does a retrospective radar feed? Would have loved to have seen the precipitation streamers for Thursday into Friday. There must have some serious shower activity!
  6. Pinks already starting to show up on the radar now, @booferking. What a week it's been, haven't had this much snow since 2010. I had the kids out sledging today at the snow is still lying well over a foot in places. I'll stick up the photos later. the only downside for me is when I trecked down the garden to get the sled from the shed I noticed the roof buckled under the weight of the snow!
  7. Kids woke me at 7am and we had the best type of snow. Really heavy fat flakes falling almost vertically as there was vey little wind. Really is beautiful when it occurs.
  8. Bit silly for the East is right. Some serious shower activity moving into far NW, looks like it might just miss me. edit: showers look to be merging as they're moving inland
  9. Im surprised it's so quiet, surely more people are getting snow? We're getting totally plastered here again!
  10. That squall line that moved through there was absolutely fantastic. Heaviest snow by far all week! I underestimated snow level from looking out. Haven't got a tape measure but I can't be far of the magic 1ft in some areas.
  11. Surely everyone in NI will get joy out of this shower line?
  12. This has been an epic week for me, at least another 3 inches last night. Car was bare at bedtime and there are drifts all around it this morning. Snowing really heavily now too!
  13. They are heading in an almost west to east direction. Those big blobs look to be heading straight to my front door!
  14. Just home from work. Was in Holywell hospital and had a fascinating drive. The biggest eye opener was how defined the snow line was. We've tons of snow and it was on the ground from home through Cookstown to Magherafelt. There was still approx two inches on the ground at the top of the bypass (Moneymore side) and literally nothing when you got to the other side of the bypass at the Castledawson roundabout. Altitude the key player these past few days.
  15. You sure it's for snow? Could be an operation to detain you under the mental health act, post traumatic snow disorder? Could be a pertinent diagnosis considering your stress levels last night
  16. Another PM blast? That's some area of high pressure over the pole!
  17. @booferking Between 11:00 Thu 18th and 23:55 Fri 19th Snow showers will affect the northwest of the UK during Thursday and Friday, although often falling as sleet and hail near windward coasts. Ice will also form in some areas overnight. Travel delays on roads are likely, as are public transport cancellations. In a few places, mainly upland areas, vehicles may become stranded. There is a chance of power cuts, while services such as mobile phone coverage may be affected. A few rural communities may become cut off. In addition some roads and pavements will turn icy, increasing the chances of accidents or injuries. Snow showers will be heaviest and most frequent across western Scotland where a further 10-20 cm is likely to build up above 200-300 m with 30 cm possible over the very highest routes. The high ground of Northern Ireland and northern England will also see 10-15 cm building up. At low levels, parts of the warning area will see 3-7 cm of snow but some places near the west coast will see very little. Showers will be accompanied by hail and lightning at times, particularly across western Scotland. Here, in particular, there is potential for disruption to power supplies from lightning strikes. Winds will strengthen at times, particularly from later Thursday, bringing the potential for temporary blizzard conditions and drifting on hills and mountains.
