  1. Slightly get the feeling that if you cherry pick charts they will never come to fruition. Might as well read the Express or Mail. What was all that excitement a week ago? Be nice to have some careful consideration of all the forecasts, models and charts in a balanced way.
  2. I am quite happy to make comment that might be treated in isolation although related. Down south snow events on the whole are few and far between. Recall having to get my dad from hospital after he was left buggered after a car crash. Unconscious for several months. My mum and me left home and it was jaffa cakesing it down and that was the forecast. As we travelled it turned to sleet, snow and then very heavy snow. The ground was wet but was soon was covered to an increasing depth of snow. So slippery. Memorable for many reasons but particularly the snow. That is what I call an unexpected event.
  3. How do you know if it will occur or not.? I said snow out of no where that hadn’t been forecast. It doesn’t matter where you are.
  4. All the best snow events come out of almost nowhere.
  5. How much cherry picking going on as far as the models?
  6. Wasn’t really conscious of very strong winds. Rain pretty heavy. No apparent damage to those areas that suffer from high wind from that direction.
  7. Am I the only one who has some concerns about the potential dangers?
  8. I’m in your club. “Os” and “A” levels back in the day seemed far more sensible in dealing with the real world.
  9. Good day for a bonfire. Wind in the right direction away from any houses and plenty of stuff to burn. Had a willing grandson to help who had a nice long pokey stick. Well it was long to start with. He went home more than happy with his day. Stank of smoke though. I am sure Greta Turdberg would be frowning a lot. Seems to like being with his grandparents. I provide such things as shooting, archery, and similar interests. Helping in the garden including cutting stuff down and burning or shredding it. Also how to make gun powder safely (without saying what the ingredients are). Ok only a very little made. Has certainly increased his interest in chemistry at school. How to make and build stuff. Then grandma providing tasty cooked treats amongst other things. Been a nice day. A day for memories Now where is that snow and ice?

  11. From the Windy App. Quite a number of webcams available around the world.
  12. Ah but look at Southend. As it is more Maritime (ok estuary) based you might think it would be warmer.
  13. Think there is a real problem with accuracy. Think you can only say what your thermometers are reading on average. Not what the actual temperature is. Tested some with a reading for boiling pure water. Generally about 100°c but other temperatures seem to vary markedly. The other problem I perceive is humidity readings. Also all over the place.
  14. How accurate do you feel your thermometer is? Got a pile here of various types. No two read the same.
  15. Hopefully for some who are in the right place at the right time it will. All the best snow is a surprise.
